Need help figuring out what is wrong with this figure I've been working on. When ever I bend or twist the abdomen section everything else move except the abdomen and the hip. the setting shown is y rotation set to 70

The green and red ens and arms might be reversed...

did you group the polygons of the abdomen to the abdomen bone? it looks as though they are not.

shadowcat ( ) posted Wed, 28 November 2001 at 4:23 PM

Reversing the red & green doesn't help, the effect that gives me is that the hip moves with the rest of the body. I used another figure as an example even and can't figure out the problem. Oh, and this is not Pro Pack.

hi show the screen with the abdomen selected and the joint editor open so we can see the window...show all 3 planes of rotation and center as well. off hand, if the dials are not reversed...it could be: the rotational order is wrong (ie twist isnt twist) you have 'spherical falloff' checked but not set the center of rotation is not in the center or could be a gremlin ;) anyhow..if the above things arent it, can you give a screen shot of the things I asked for? thanx BT

hey there 'cat... i see you are running into some of the same problems I had on this thing:) Send me what you have so far so I can take another look..

Valandar ( ) posted Wed, 28 November 2001 at 8:42 PM

Try this: Reverse both green arms (i.e., the 2 and 3 number), and reverse the two red arms (i.e., the 1 and 4 numbers)

General info on the Orc This mesh was created by sixus1 and is intended for the marketplace (we are working on it together) So far I think that I've done a pretty good job on the arms, hands and fingers. In addition to the abdomen & hip problem, the leg to hip joints aren't the best (but I haven't focused on them yet) Once the joints are functional the morphs will be made and applied. Also Mr. Orc has various gear that he can wear (in the form of smart props currently) but again I won't really focus on that til he is fully posable. Sixus1 also has a collection of textures already made up. Photo showing the bend functions of the arm & hand

hiya kat ya almost showed me all I wanted to see :P anyhow, what I see thus far is ok..so show me all the joint editor windows for every joint show me the wireframe of the model and lastly...this is something you have to check there...make sure that every polygon you intend to be in the group waist, abdomen, etc are actually where they are supposed to be. for instance, if you have one single polygon that belongs in the hip in the chest or visa versa, then all things are fubar. you can go into uvmapper and show each group one at a time and see if you have an oddball in there...but based on what I see, this is most likely the problem. luck BT

here they are in their current form (matches the above pictures) and I double checked, there doesn't seem to be any polys out of place

Of course now the arms aren't bending right, but I think I ccan fix that (it's just going to be a pain in the butt)

shadowcat ( ) posted Fri, 30 November 2001 at 2:50 AM

btw, the problem was that the thighs were attached to the abdomen. (Doh)
