Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 20 7:20 am)
I use the milleniumnull loader from rbtwhiz.com, what is the "Big difference" to your file? Mazak
They are really the same, even the name is a dumb as the name I originally gave mine, "EMC Fixer" The point of this is to benefit people who are new to Poser and are looking for a quick fix to the problem. Hopefull they will search for "Cross Talk" and find it right off. Who is going to search for "EMC Fixer" or "Null Loader"? A little background... For those give a darn ;-) I came up with the idea about using a blocking figure when I was developing the first EMC figures, The DreamSpinner collection. Rob adapted the "EMC Fixer" to work with MM characters. I added the extra stuff for MM figures once I realized they had extra parts. Rob's Cross Talk Info Nerd 3D Cross Talk Info A really cool new trick involves grafting a Fixer and any EMC figure together. It will automatically load a fixer before each figure. This saves a bunch of clicking around and keeps you from accidentally blowing a scene by loading things in the wrong order. Instructions on how to do this are on my EMC tut page. The Fog Tool comes with a version that sports an integrated "Shield".
Nerd, this is fascinating - thanks to you and rbtwhiz for sharing all your discoveries! However, if I understand your tutorial after a first reading, adding your Fixer to a figure's .cr2 works only as long as we use the figure straight from the library. When we modify and save it, Poser strips out the Fixer and cross-talk re-occurs, right? For example, when folks make a character from my new P4FemMagic and save it, they still need to follow the (awkward, but effective) Null Loader process that you pioneered and I included in P4FM? (Unless they hack the .cr2 themselves? Maybe Dan Wilmes will add this to CR2Edit???) Off to reread this - thanks again - Elisa/gryffnn
Er, um yeah. If you save a PZ3 every thing will work, but if you save it in the library. It breaks it. (Bummer) Perhaps an easier way to add the fixer to an existing CR2 would be this... 1) Take a copy of fixer and remove the top and bottom curly brace 2) Save this as fixer.txt or something 3) Open fixer.txt in textpad (or similar) 4) Select All, Copy 5) Open CR2 victim 6) position cursor just inside first Curly { 7) Paste 8) Save as... Only 3-8 Need to be repeated for subsequent CR2's. Somebody could probably write a python to do this.
Nerd, thanks for your Fixer - it's helped me many a time. I've used EMC Fixer a whole lot - still do. However, I gave up on fbms a while back for my most used characters based on Vicki and threw all the fbm dials out. I do the posing all manually now, or build pose files with only the specific dials included. After a few trashed scenes where I forgot to choose EMC Fixer and loaded a new figure only to watch the whole thing go down the tubes, I got so mad I rebuilt my char files for Vicki at least. :] FishNose
heyas; i thought that saving the pz3 with a null figure didn't work. not unless you did this null-shield thing that rob came up with. i really dunno what happens when you save as cr2. :/ anyway, nerd, i've been experimenting with an even smaller null figure. instead of having all the pertinent body parts of p4/millenium figures, it has absolutely no parts in common. in fact, it has one znullz part that shouldn't match anything. i THINK that will cause it to work with any/all figures that have fbms, not just ones with matching body parts. at least, so far, it does. what's your experience with nulls that may not have all the same matching parts?
Bloodsong, Saving a figure with shields(nulls, what ever you call it) does work, but only if the figures were originally loaded in the right order. Poser will tead the PZ3 in the same order the figures were created. (At least it seems that way) You have to load in this order... Shield Figure Shield Figure My integrated shield insures that the figures are loaded in that order. I'd like to see this smaller null thingie you are using. I tried something like that when I first dreamed this up and I couldn't make it work. I made a figure that only had a body and no other parts. It would load, but it didn't block cross talk. FishNose, (I'll probally catch he!! for this, but here goes...) Actually DAZ doesn't do much innovationg. The Millenium figure's "innnovations" are mostly ripped off. The body divisions are based on the Evolution figures and all those pbm's are for the EMC/ERC research. You can bet V3 will have body handles and a shield, all courtesy of the 'osity-3DC-PFO think tank. (OK, falme away, I've got my Nomex gloves and peril sensative sunglasses on))

This is not new, but it is a new name. I released this over a year ago as "EMC Fixer" Nobody knew what it was for. (Stupid name, I know) So now it's call it Cross Talk Fixer. It is still free and still fixes all cross talk problems between Milennium and standard P4 figures when used properly. It is a stripped to the bone character that has no geometry, no channels, and uses very little resources. If you use Full Body Morphs you need this. What is "Cross Talk"? When you load 2 figures in a scene the Full Body Morphs (FBM) do not work properly. The dials on the first figure loaded control all the figures FBMs. (Bad) The Cross Talk fixer gets between the figures and prevents the FBMs from seeing each other and thus stops all cross talk. I comes with a brief manual covering the Fixer and EMC figures in general. Unless you're an expert with FBM, PBM and EMC you will need to read the included manual. The fixer is simple to use once you know how. [![ngsmall02.gif](http://www.nerd3d.com/Banners/ngsmall02.gif)](http://www.nerd3d.com)
