It doesn't matter what one you choose, those are all good, we use AutoCad to model ours, but I do know lots have 3DSMax and Rhino, some have Lightwave and Truespace....depends on your budget, one thing you will have to study, ask questions and be patient, but once you get it, you will have a ball, even when you learn you will have fun....I am partial to AutoCad, but that is quiet expensive and very engineering oriented, if I had to choose I guess my pick would be Lightwave..... SharenI like NURBS modelling...I could not "get it", until I discovered NURBS. I use rhino....not as pricey as some of the others, but easy to work with. YOu might want to go to the Amapi forum and pick up on the free version (full)of Amapi...another nurbs modeller. Also, the header for the modeling forum has links to various "freebie modellers". Good luck.
I have Rhino3d and Truespace4. I love Rhino and can't make head or tails of TrueSpace. Not that Truespace is bad. You can look at the work of guys like PhilC and see that Truespace is plenty powerful. Its just a matter of personal style. Thats why I'd try some demos 1st if I were you. I know Rhino3d has a demo and I think Truespace does too. I don't know about 3d studio Max or LightWave. Amapi3d has a free version. In fact check the modeling forum for a bunch of links to some free modelers.

I HAVE 3ds Max...bought it as a "businesss" expense. I cannot make head nor tail of it. I think one reason that I am so fond of Rhino, and, even amapi, is that their forums are GREAT. I tried the Max forum, when I still believed that I had enough grey matter to comprehend it within a reasonable timeframe. I found that forum to be quite intimidating. There are many good modelling programs out there. Alot of them are still free. Try www.anim8or.com. There is a good free one to get you started on "morphing" your existing poser figs and their clothing. (Also, my FIRST one...free, and, good.)

Hi^^ I'm new here, and pretty much new to the Poser scene (been using it now for about a month) I'm really interested in creating my own props, hair and clothing, and no doubt this has been asked, but I couldn't find much on it that was helpful. What programs do you people who create such things use? I've looked at various ones like 3DSMax, Rhino3D, Carrara, etc, and still have no idea which would work well. I really need some direction since I don't know exactly what program is best for these. Thanks in advance^^
