Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 22 10:18 pm)
oh man. That's annoying. I switched to Pro myself - really made it work for a living this weekend. Steve added a totally nifty feature that makes me a happy happy person. Preview mesh (you can SEE the object or just what you have selected) overlay on mesh texture AND see object with texture. Great for playing 'name that thing' and previewing textures on the fly. Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh such an amazingly useful thing. Ripped through 6 object textures in no time, being able to load the bloody texture right into low-system-drag UVPro without having to wait for bloody poser's sloooow rendering times and system instability due to having Poser and Pshop open at the same time. It only takes BMPs but hey - no problem! Switch to pro - it has many terribly useful features. The other great one is spreading mesh. So you can take curved bits and smooth out the mesh that gets distorted in mapping. Lyrra
I am really happy with UVMapper Pro. It has several new features, including the one Lyrra mentioned, that make your life easier. I'm glad to see you are doing frequent saves under different names. That is probably the most important thing you can do, especially when you're doing complicated maps. I can't count the number of times I've completely screwed up a complicated map and had to go back a version or two to recover. Good luck... Lynn Grant Castle Development Group
cautions with uvmapping in stages and saving: when you save an obj, it will break up the groups in tiny pieces..each time you save, those pieces will be broken into pieces..and those pieces broken into pieces..etc. what does this mean? It means that you can have obj files that (in the end) are represented by groups per line that have to be stripped apart by poser. This means poser can hang, crash, die..this means a person with low ram will not be able to open a small file..this means you'll be saying really foul language..lol save often if you want, but dont close mapper use the advanced feature of reordering (uvmapper pro) to help some but be aware that saving often can screw you and it wont kiss you first! For instance, my 2 headed dragon isnt as big as many other files, but when I load it in my phi builder, I can watch it churn away looking at a zillion individual group lines unnecessarily created by my fear of doing it wrong in the beginning.
