Subject: Poser scene to Vue just for rendering...any tutorials/threads on the matter?

I haven't been able to render a scene in poser it just quits responding. Since I've tried everything other than upgrading to Win2k, I was wondering how the heck you transfer a scene to Vue for renders. I remember reading somewhere you could export a PZ3 and do it that way but I tried and no luck. Suggestions?

what version of vue are you trying with? vue4 will allow you to import a native pz3 through object:import from the menus wasn't available before vue4

Vue 4... will try object:import Thanks :)

Also make sure you have the latest updates for Vue installed. The current version is 4.06, and solve some problems Vue had with importing PZ3 files.

You can import the pz3 as is in Vue via the import command just as Jaqui describes above. Just remember the following: - Make sure that you have the latest upgrade for Vue installed (4.06-02). - Poser must be closed when you are doing the import.

it asks you to point it to poser exe, which isn't a problem .~g~ I was talking with Steve Cooper last night, it was set up like that to ensure that you have a properly installed version of poser. I'm working on getting a graphics suite for linux and want to include being able to use poser files. so talking with CL to work out an agreement.

Well, on rendering in Poser...the program 'hangs' and never completes a render (have to ctl+alt+deleate to get out and reports Poser as not responding), be it a complex scene or just one simple object. I've uninstalled, defragged the drive, reinstalled, patched and turn off all non-essential programs and run cacheman as CL support suggested. Its rendered other times, but won't render textures on things such as shoes, jewelry, groundplane (yes, groundplane is checked and I never fiddle with any of the axis)I refuse to upgrade to Win2k both because of a personal decision (good article on the matter: http://arachnoid.com/boycott/index.html)and because it doesn't support half of my other programs I run on a regular basis (older games, utilities, etc) shrug I'll eventually get something rendered...even if its just faces with low rez textures :o)

There are several files (apart from your whole Runtime folder) that get left behind by uninstall - bet you weren't asked for your serial number when you put it back. Try moving some of the odd looking files from the main Poser 4 and Runtime/Prefs folders to another place and see if Poser will a) start and b) co-operate afterwards (you can always move 'em back if it doesn't manage a)).

Well, have you though of dual boot the system. one to run win2k for render and win98 for the older games abd utilities.

All I know is that I got DAZ high res textures for Vicky at the time I was running win98se for the same thing, my kid's games and other programs that people said will not run on win2k. The system had 512mg of ram, 8mg video and 40gig Hard Drive at the time and I'd lockup on rendering. So I call DAZ and CL both and both say to upgrade to win2k. I did, the games and programs that "will not run on win2k" did just fine and I render with two and three high res texture now. I did upgrade the video to 64 meg agp and add a two hard drive.

Now can you tell about you system Memory, Hard Drive (Size and free), Video (Memory and Make), and Operating system and it's pacth. How long are you wait on the lockup in time?

Running AMDK PII 600mhz 256ram 3DFX Voodoo3300 Win'98 18.06 hardrive with 6gigs free. I hit render and let Poser render (or at least try, lol) while I'm out running errands, usually 30-45 minutes. When I uninstalled, I ran 'find file' and deleated everything else that was Poser 4 core instalation related. I'm at a loss...so glad I didn't put my cds away with the rest of my games in a box.

http://arachnoid.com/boycott/index.html on the boycott I agree with that. That why i'm running win2k and not XP. I also run office 2000 not XP, for that reason and I paid for Office XP and Microsoft did not ship the seriel number. I let the subscription run out on MSDN so they well not send me the seriel number for it. Oh they say I have the right to run it, but they will not give me the seriel number. but win2k is not xp!

6 GB of free drive space is not really much at all when you're doing graphics. That is likely your problem.
