Uhhhh.. here we go again. No one is making you a criminal. Daz doesn't give a sh!t about the few freebies you had posted and then took down. Geez Ron, I'll give you any items you want from my store if they will keep you busy enough not to post here every other hour or so to complain about this DAZ thing. I am sure there are other merchants who will join me...
[As it stands right now, DAZ approves any violation of their policy as long as you have an exclusive brokering arrangement with DAZ. DAZ is not only practicing retroactive policies, but is willing to over-ride their own policy if you broker with DAZ exclusively.] Where do you get this from? I think I've read all the threads on this subject and I've never seen DAZ themselves claim this.
Excuse me all to hell, but I'm not the only person concerned about this whole issue. Read the affected threads. Just go to DAZ's site, and find the Michael Morphing Clothing Pack, Vicky's Morphing Clothing Pack, the Millennium Girls Morphing Clothing pack. Do you see a trend here? The products violate DAZ's concerns about the clothing circumventing the need to buy the affected characters. However, the items are sold at DAZ.
Jeeze, Eowyn. That's all I have to do to get someone to offer me their entire product line? I wish I'd known... grin The "get out of jail free" coupon from God would be cool too. ;]
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
Ok, this is the last comment I'm going to make on this whole thing (I mean it dammit!) 1. Daz is not violating it's own policy, copyright is a literal term "the RIGHT to COPY". they have the copyright - they decide what products can do it and how it can be sold. 2. Daz doesn't care if you distribute morphed clothes to people that have the relevant files. (V2/M2) 3. Daz is all for the creation of conforming clothes for V1 & M1, and only wants CAUTION to be used when "tailoring" to V2 & M2. 4. Ron I don't think you have anything to worry about. In fact all the turmoil has made me think of a few items that COULD seriously endanger Daz if they were created. No doubt this is at the heart of the policy changes, not the items that have already been made, but the items that are possible in the future.
ronknights, please put your stuff back up in hte Free Stuff section and enjoy the contribution you are making to the community. I think that if DAZ wanted you to remove anything then someone would have contacted you personally, I would imagine they have folks on the payroll who do just that :) While I appreciate your concerns - I think they are as erroneous as Chicken Little's... so, let's do a 'wait and see' to see how things pan out from here, and in the meantime have some fun with all the stuff we all bought during the 30% off sale last month :)
Ron, you had me at hello. Don't let all the naysayers get you down. You have a point, and as we all know anyone who has a point, must be allowed to make it over and over and over again. I'm sure if you keep pounding and pounding this subject into people, that you will convince them. Look at me, I'm living proof it can be done. Next thing you know we will rise up and have a Million Mike March to convince DAZ, to change their policies and keep you from retroactively becomeing a hardened criminal. Besides I know you have so much to worry about. I mean DAZ is probably getting with their lawyers and the copyright police to raid your house for all your Tailored CR2's. Do you got a lawyer my friend? If not I have Jonny Cochrans number around here somewhere. Man he is a great lawyer. I'm sure he will come up with a killer slogan to get you off... something like "If the morph don't fit, you must aquit. If they do come for you, I'll start up the Ronderosity Defense Fund. Signed, Your freverent supporter, Lance
License agreements are adhesion contracts. In essence, you have to adhere to them or not enter into the deal. They are not face to face negotiations. Both parties are bound. Ok, some years ago I bought a C++ compiler for $1000. Yeah, spendy. Unlimited usage, no royalty. The upgrade limited to 25,000 distributions and after that you had to pay royalties to the compiler mfgr. I didn't install the update. See, if I had, I would be locked into the new deal, but just because there was a change in an update doesn't mean I was locked into it with the original product. Look at your original license agreement, print it, put it in a folder, and stand by that and if the update limits the license, make your decision. Choose wisely grasshopper, or in another genry, walk softly and carry a large negotiating stick (and seek to modify the license with the mfgr).
You're right about having too many threads on the same topic. You're right that I've been extremely worried and wasted too much emotional and physical energy over this. As it stands right now, two of my Freebies would be most directly involved in the "problem areas." One had a Tailored catsuit, and the other a Tailored bodysuit (Vicky and Mike based characters.)Those items will not be re-released with the troublesome bodysuit/catsuit. As it stands right now DAZ has put their policy concerning the clothes on hold. However, I believe in being prepared as much as possible. The Marvin character would also need to be redone as a MOR file rather than a cr2 file. I would want to substitute maybe a shirt and pants instead of the bodysuit. I am forcing myself to cut back on computer time for the rest of the week, and get some much-needed rest. I probably won't try to redo the freebies till the weekend. However, the weekends are usually time reserved for "domestic stuff." Eowyn, thanks for causing me to stop and catch my breath. You do have many fine items in your store. But if I forced people to pay for my silence, I would lose whatever credibility I might have. (Hopefully I still have some?!) I've never sought "material rewards" for the good things I do, and surely won't take them for the less than desirable things I do. Instead, I'll "give it a rest."
No, you're wrong again Ron. The models won't be obsolete. We'll just be able to do more with them. If you don't believe me, ask them yourself. We can take the Period dresses for example and make them flow with the character's movements rather than look stiff. Poser 5 will enhance our experience and use of these models.

DAZ's recent stance on distributing clothing altered by the Tailor has raised deep concerns within the community. I have one great concern here. We're dealing with an official stance that comes at least 4 months after Tailor was released. DAZ has had sufficient time to do their research and voice any objections. What is to stop DAZ from voicing their concerns with commericial products 6 months, or even years down the road? Wouldn't that retroactive decision or stance turn many law-abiding people into "criminals or copyright violators?!" As it stands right now, DAZ approves any violation of their policy as long as you have an exclusive brokering arrangement with DAZ. DAZ is not only practicing retroactive policies, but is willing to over-ride their own policy if you broker with DAZ exclusively. Those contradicting policies can help to kill the competition. Many people like myself are not ready to sell anything, but we'd like to give things away. As it stands right now, I won't feel safe even when DAZ finally announces a solution to the current Tailor issue. I'm afraid DAZ will come by in months or years and make me a criminal.
