i've tried the demo. its not all its cracked up to be. And you keep paying them long after the original payment and license too, just read all the fine print. I like the companies shout3d software, but facegen is still years away from being a viable contender. The tools that ship with maya and softimage can do just as good a job, max has its own facegeneration plugin, and you cant really say it competes with poser because it serves a totally different function, and all posers face generation is done with morphs. Definately innovative, definately a good idea, but definately not at the level to be worth looking at yet.
I don't agree with what you say: I am maybe wrong, but you have the software for $$ 480, then you get free add-ons with more imports-exports, and THEN you can IMPORT the face 3D obj INTO Poser, then after, you can mix it with a whole Poser body mesh, add hair..or any moustache you want save it as a *.pz2 or .pz3, exit and get a realistic character, certaily with no compare to the sad Poser results that we have...always adding more and more bad of these bad Poser crap stuff we have often here, for not much realism. _Not counting the fact that the next versions will certainly allow directly as stand-alone soft to then be able to obtain expressions, hair, and why not, I'm sure, bodies and poses...I am sorry for the Poser-fans, I think you shouldn't be fans of the past, this one I think's really gonna "kill" Poser...and after all, after the deception with Curious Labs, I am quite happy even if I have to spend some more efor a professional serious qualty software... _It doesn't mean that I will stop using Poser, although I am very bored of the poor results it gives since Poser 3. _I will certainly still will use it (Poser 3, because I deny totally the quality and what theuy did out of Poser 3 with Poser 4, as I really think they did crap too from Bryce 4.2_Metacretions upgrade only, not the Corel upgrade) to Corel Bryce 5, AND SO MUCH SLOWER. _Although, I'llbe glad to import FaceGen into Poser, at least until Sigular Inversions make the next versions of FaceGen, with bodies, expressions and poses. (Why not quality-monsters, if you like them so much ????!!!... _But I don't want to offend nobody telling you my opened-heart feelings, and please consider that my advice is only one of them. Not more important not less than oner ones.
"always adding more and more bad of these bad Poser crap stuff we have often here, for not much realism." This is a problem with the user and not poser. people who make bad results with poser wll make bad results with this software too. "after the deception with Curious Labs, I am quite happy even if I have to spend some more efor a professional serious qualty software..." what deception are you referring too? "Poser 3, because I deny totally the quality and what theuy did out of Poser 3 with Poser 4" I actually found poser 4 to be a large improvement, and poser 5 seems to improve on that still further. Why do you consider poser 4 to be such a mistake? did you learn how to use it? have you tried it? was it a full legal copy? "at least until Sigular Inversions make the next versions of FaceGen, with bodies, expressions and poses. (Why not quality-monsters, if you like them so much ????!!!..." Ever hear of creature creator? Not as advanced as face gen modeller but more of the same. It still isnt as functional as poser. "But I don't want to offend nobody telling you my opened-heart feelings, and please consider that my advice is only one of them. Not more important not less than oner ones. " Im not offended at all. nothing wrong with stating your opinion, and your not hurting anyone. I always like a good discussion or debate. Im just sharing my own opnions and am interested in why yours are what the are. However, i really feel this probabl should have been brought up on the off topic board.
Yeah it is Klaus/Liftan... it is clear who it is by the way he types. Like Anton, I considered P3 a huge advance from P2 (still remember Anton's P2 Body Textures that worked miracles!!), and P4 was an even MORE advancement from P3!! 3D programs cannot make one realistic thing... the use of it can, however, in the hands of someone who is talented enough. Just because you have a 2k program doesn't mean you are going to be able to create the same sort of special effects you see in movies or realistic people (like in Final Fantasy: Spirits Within). A person has to be willing to learn the ins and outs of that software and maximize their skills and improve as they mature in the use of the software. Poser makes this possible with a low enough price tag that just about anyone can learn the basics and have fun while doing so. Personally, if I wanted realism in my stuff, I'd just pick up my Minolta and get a couple of models. Much quicker and easier in my opinion. Jack
