I tried to set her to the "fashion model" height under the figure menu to see if that would slim her down a bit and noticed an abnomaly in the Hip area. So I tried the other settings and found that the "adolescent" setting was even worse. Here are a couple of pics to illustrate what I mean. Sorry for the poor quality but they serve the purpose. I do hope CL gets an update out to correct some to the problems with the new figures soon. I really can't understand thier delay, since it should take a minimum of coding. As I understand it the morphs etc. were only left out of the program, so they should have to create new ones, just package up the existing files. Personally I think this would go a long way toward proving credibility to the more vocal element. mike

I tried the supermodel body too. No go. Got that weird hip thing. LOLOL Hope they fix it soon. In a bathing suit she doesn't look too bad but in pants, not so good.

yeah, I tried putting judy on the juvenile setting and this is what i got. Seriously, there does seem to be a problem here with the height adjustments.

Those menu functions are from Poser 2 - for Poser 2 models aren't they?

JeffH ( ) posted Tue, 17 September 2002 at 7:33 AM

Yes they are - Poser2 figures only. We were warned way back with Poser 3 not to use them on the newer figures. -Jeff

Sorry. My bad. Didn't start experimenting with Poser til version 4. Thanks for the info. Gotta keep us newbies informed. LOLOL

Kelchris3, I'm with you, started with Poser 3, from the magazines and upgraded to P4 in short order, never heard a word about not using the menu functions! Seems to me THAT should have been in the manual somewhere. I've used them several times on the Poser 4 figures with decent results. Come to think of it though, I don't remember if I ever tried them on Vicki or Mike. Thanks for the info! mike

This same hip problem crops up when scaling figures using the XYZ translations. Was never a problem in previous versions. The hips will not scale to fit the adjoining parts. Using the full-scaling function (all 3 axis' at once) seems to work.

Re-read the manual section on the menu bar. It explained that "Poser provides several figure heights, which you can adjust by selecting...". It then goes on to explain that the heights are measured in "heads" etc. At no point does it mention anything about P2 or that this menu option is NOT for P5 characters. The fact that Foxhollow says (and I have verified) that this happens using normal translation scaling leads me to believe it is related to the missing FBMs on the new figures. This is not a slam against CL or Poser 5. For the most part I seriously like the program. I just want the figures to have their full usefulness. If this isn't supposed to work with the P5 figures, perhaps Anthony can clarify that point. Otherwise I think it's a bug that needs to be reported. If it is related to the FBMs that are missing then the sooner CL releases them the better. I believe in CL, and I do believe that they are coding a repair patch for many, or all of the known bugs. However, a show of good faith on their part certainly can't hurt with all of the bad talk currently circulating. mike

I have seen mention in previous posts that CL is aware of the FBM problems and are scheduled to be fixed in the first patch...I expect this scaling problem will also be taken care of. Poser 5 IS a major upgrade...one that DESERVES a whole new version number, unlike most other software nowadays! The features they added are major, high level features not available in the box with any 3D software I know of. Time will cure it and They'll get it straightened out.
