I've been trying to make an animation for someone for awhile now, and I need text in a 3d form to be part of the animation. The best way I've found so far is to use Symetrical Latices, however any sides that are at any kind of angle other than 90/180 are extremely jaggy, bumpy, or ripply.. Anyway around this? Or is there another (free?) program I can use to make a model out of text and import into Bryce? (yeah I know Bryce is not a modeling program, unfortunetly it just works so good at everything else for me and I know how to use it.. sortof) Thanks

Don't now where you might find it, but there was a free version of Amorphium a while back, and amorphium does great text, in any true font you have installed on your computer. What might help you using the Bryce's terrain editor, is to do a little gaussian blurring in the 2D program before importing the image into Bryce.

It's called Elefont.

Yup, Elefont is the easiest/best way to do this for Bryce. It's free, small(342kb), no installation, just double-click and go. Elefont makes any text (in any font) into an importable 3D .dxf file. Amorphium is good to have, just to have. Find it/get it if you can.

First of all, just use a terrain. Do not use a lattice. Just make sure to set the terrain to positive and clip it so that it's transparent where it would normally not be. Look at this composite screen shot.

the most simple way to make a smooth text is not the plug in its about makeing an image at a res of 512x512 and the choose the terrain res to 512x512, clip away and render out. voila! a smooth text. works for me every time.

Elefont worked great! Thanks a lot. And thanks to the rest of you for your suggestions too
