Description

Ultrafractal 3.02 Here's one that's sorta "artsy-fartsy" as Keith would say - lol. More brown stUFf. I learned a lot about fbm Popcorn Traps when I made this as the almost all the texturing layers and shapes were made with it using the Julia 1st Correction formula in the sam.ufm folder. Spiffed it up a little with a frame and matte made in UF. No luck at the DragonCon Art Show. No ribbons - there was some great art there. But they also didn't have a category for digital art (??????!!!!!) anyhow. Got no bids on my pieces, either. I was pretty demoralized for a while but as I looked thru the gallery a few hours before the close, I saw only one piece that sold for over $75 anyhow. Most in the $10-$50 range. I had VERY large giclee prints. There was lots of really good art there but it was all too expensive for the crowd that came, I guess. Audre and I were the only fractallists. Which reminds me that I wanted to buy the small copy of her "Dreamcatcher" she had on display but, as ALWAYS, Joie had the checkbook! lol She was waiting with the car as I loaded my stuff out. Gotta remember to e-mail her and get it - amazingly cool fractal/Poser piece! BUT, we DID have a great time, I DID get pix of my exhibit and I did GET A T-SHIRT! lol Joie got to see her son, who lives in Atlanta, and BEST OF ALL, we got to go up to north Georgia and spend an evening til around 2AM visiting one of my best fractal buddies, Panny Brawley (Pannyhb)! What a fun and friendly person she is and also her husband, Skipper. Wonderous view from their place WAY up in the mountains, too. Wow - I'm not sure, but I think I hold the record for the most fractallists met in person at SIX!! Thanks for stopping by! Rick ***(Fine art giclee' prints of most of my work are available in limited edition on archival paper or canvas - e-mail: drahcir3@hotmail.com and get busy filling that empty spot on the wall! Unique, "one-of-a-kind" (edition size = 1) prints are also available*** :-)

Hi Rick, Love this image, and especially the title! Very inventive! I like all the dark colors in this, and usually I go for the more colorful or dare I say it 'flashy' gradients. It is beautiful in an understated way. Unusual and unique, and I mean that in a good way! Sorry you had no sales at the art show, but who knows, next year will be here before you know it! Leanndra

This is an exquisite Art piece Rick, and indeed a fine display of Surrealism! Bravo, and don't let the response from the Art Show get you down! Keep working the shows and private Art Galleries, I know your work will sell! BTW, I'm happy to hear you had fun in Atlanta, and got up N Georgia to see Panny. To bad we are on opposite coast lines, I'd like to be any # 7 and on :) Take care, and thanks for the info on the Julia 1st Correction formula in the sam.ufm! :)

Yay!!! A new post! And thank YOU and Joie for taking the time to come visit - we had the BEST time! I guess it's "different strokes for different folks", because I really like the "wall" on the right hand side of this beauty. I think it gives the offset spiral more depth. You've done a masterful job at shadowing the spiral against a "surface". Well done, I say, Well done!!!

Dreaming of a glorious city! I like the cityscape wall and the organic spiral in contrast. I am not usually a fan of browns, but this is quite attractive :)

Dude, I think you just had the wrong kind of audience...next time bring your prints somewhere near my hometown and I'll buy as many as my bank account allows :D Superb design man, especially the layout caught my eye, the upper right corner gives this a great sense of 3d...it looks as if there was this huge, beautiful sculpture in the middle of an empty marketplace at night, dim street lights illuminating the streets with their soft light...very atmospheric, absolutely brilliant work!

Well I guess some do not see good art when it is in front of their face. Don't get too down about it. I also agree with DennisReed in regards to keep on trying the Art Galleries and Shows. You will get noticed. Your art is just beautiful. This one is no exception. Lovely brown tones!

A glorious picture , Rick _ I like the pearlescent cream colouring which effortlessly merges into the accompanying greys and pinky-browns. The dark shadows effectively separate the main fractal from the golden background - Xcellent stUFf ! C-ya ...... Mike !

Wow! Rick it is a great one. I like the muted tones and a hint of metallic flake on the spiral. That background rocks and gives it a reminiscent feeling. Really nice!

Wonderful image. The stone coloring and texturing of the main figure really work well. I think the coloring is more harmonious overall now. BTW, with your talent you have as good a shot at sucessful marketing of digital art as just about anyone in this game.

If you ever make it up to New England I'd be happy to be number 7, even if I'm not really a fractalist. Great picture, the care you take with the details and textures always shows through. If you got to spend some time in north Georgia you were lucky, it's one of my favorite places. Lots of good barbeque up there and the weather at this time of year should be delightful!

Superb lighting, colors and texture work, Rick, and I love the design and perspective. Hey, guy, I can be very objective, and we both know I've the tendency to gush too much (nah!), but I think your artwork is downrught exciting and so excellent. As Dr. Phil is fond of saying, "What were they thinking?!"
