Description

Today is a special day. I dedicate this one to Wim since it is his birthday today! Happy birthday mate! I hope you'll have the health and opportunities to enjoy more of these hikings in the mountains! :) Last shot of this glacier (looks similar to yesterday's posting but the composition is different). Unfortunately it is not safe to approach this glacier closer (rocks on melting ice that could slide down any moment) and the running water separates us from the other side of the glacier so we cannot explore the rest of the glacier. I hope you've seen enough details of it, however. It's time to go back to the car, but this is not the last picture of this valley yet. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 28 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comment

Now that we have it here after the other pictures of tiny people on far away ice we can ask is it too deep and swift to ford? It could be we only have leather boots and cold and wet is the limit unless we were in a life threatening situation demanding a crossing to begin an escape. Folks in floods have forfeited their lives to this question while looking at a submerged road. You have been in person and saw it as not worth the inconvenience or was it real danger?

I like the way you have to go always more close to the glacier... and to discover some new details in each shot. I wish a very Happy Birthday to your friend Wim too !!!!! And continue to go climbing together, to have so much other photographies to show us Jan-Carel !!! Have a good day, and a big Hug.

Thanks Jan-Carel for the beautiful dedi, and thanks everyone for the good wishes! Again a excellent picture. Everytime I look at J.C.'s work I am baffled by the sheer quality of it. It's an everyday-gift.
