Description

Although Kodak Photo-CD does its best it is not easy to get orange on the screen. But hey, no wonder, orange is a color that can NOT be represented on an RGB-screen (and representation on paper is even worse in CMYK, although color-systems as Pantone offer special inks that can be used to print orange correctly) because it does not belong to the gamut of RGB-colors. Although this slide is old you should see it and compare it with this picture on screen, you would be overwhelmed by the warm tones. Back in the 80ies and early 90ies I shot many sunrises (as the very beginning of my gallery shows) and this one is shot with reflections of the early sunlight on the water of the Rhine close to Rhenen where the notorious Grebbeberg is situated, a location where many soldiers died in WW II (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_history_of_the_Netherlands_during_World_War_II for more information about this tragedy). Agfa Optima 1a (Agfachrome 100 S, 35 mm)

Lovely clarity from these old slides. Looks so peaceful now compared to the horrors of what happened here in WW2.

Splendid! What a beautiful sunrise. The sky is not usually like this, so the picture enhances the tragedy of the lives lost in senselessness. Mans inhumanity to man. Thank you for reminding us that we are all so fragile. HUGS!!!!

For what it's worth, which is not much, orange is one of the few words that have no rhyme in English. Not that that has anything to do with this gorgeous sunrise. I love the symmetry here; sometimes the rule of thirds just doesn't apply. :-)
