Kimarie Chartier here- 43. I live in Canyon Country /Newhall area , Southern California. I have always been an artist . I started drawing at age two. My Mother said when I was a child I always had something to draw with in hand and I would cry when the paper ran out (LOL) ..I went to art school for a short while and have taught art to elementry school kids. I have done many oil paintings , pastels and watercolors , but recently , have been intrigued with digital photography and computer photo art in paint shop pro. now, I mainly work in Paint shop pro 7 and 11. I now also just beginning to work in ADobe photoshop cs2 ! I also am a full time Mom with three girls ( who are all over my gallery) Annie 16, Janel 13, and Christina 10. Between my parenting, photoshoots, Renderosity and playing in paint shop/ photoshop I keep very busy ! I also have a sweet, loving cocker spaniel named Candi who is very needy of much love and attention lol She goes with me on photoshoots-oh- 'cept when I am shooting birds haha cause she is a bird hunter by nature!!
I LOVE any kind of art .like to draw and paint with basically anything I can get my hands on (LOL)!
I have fallen in love with photography
opening up light and dark and seeing the limitless possiblities! But I do still love to paint too!!  Works like Nightfears , came from nothing but my immagination -drawing/ painting with only a mouse paint and smudge tools from a blank page in paintshop 7. I started out with a Nikon 7900 pocket cam and am at the moment working in photography..now also have two other canon pocket cams a sl900
and sx 100is - mainly all my work in my gallery is done with my little pocket cams - they go with me everywhere and is an an extention of my right hand!! I have a canon rebel as well but it isnt working all that great so manly using the pocket cams for now . Learning..growing and sharing on here is the best!! I don't know what I would do without this site it has helped me learn so much..( this site motivates me so much ) I love it here ! yeah so I got the photography bug ..and I also love to do photo art...!! I, every now and then I will do a painting or a smudging as I call it.( you can see most of my smudge painting works hand done with a mouse on the first two pages of my gallery!!)

Very Beautiful! I've been to Los Angeles and you are right when you say that it is not the most picturesque city. However, your photo is stunning and well deserving of a Canon EOS 20d SLR ;>)))

LA should pay you for this shot... a rare glimpse pf a decent atmopshere over the city and a most positive view of the city. Beautiful work Kimmers.

I hope the water lilies were in bloom when you two met, as they lend a romantic air to the view. Nice composition & presentation. I hope you get the Canon, now that you've had a taste of the SLR world with your friend's Nikon.

Kimsee, you really take your life in your hands when you go anywhere near downtown Los Angeles. At least you can hide behind the lily pods in Echo Park and shoot away. Downtown L.A. looks great from a distance with all those neat buildings. That is a beautiful in-depth photo of the skyline from Echo Park. Great light and shadow of the leaves. Anyway, you've inspired me to leave early from Norwalk some weekend morning and get out to Echo Park to see what kind of photographic magic I can perform. Harry the Hugger

Used to be that the city hall building was the tallest building you could see of downtown... now I'm not sure if you can even see it for all the new taller buildings?? Excellent image from Echo Park Kimmers!!!!

LOL!!!!!!! I have this image of you..... wading in the pond up to your neck to get this picture!!!!! LOL :P Wow! Talk about a trip down memory lane..... I used to go downtown quite often, but I can't say that I've been anywhere near there in about 18+ years! You really captured what little beauty that city has! The last time I was downtown I had to drive by Skid Row and I'll always have that haunting image in my head whenever I think about Los Angeles! Maybe I can replace that image with yours!!!!! LOL ;p

It looks so inviting. But I think I'll keep my distance, lol. Excellent capture. Aloha

Wonderful shot !!! Amazing contrast of the park and LA. Havent been to LA since I moved away from California. Never looked this gorgeous. Maybe they should hire you for doing promotional images. LOL. Excellent image. Great idea !!!!

You know what makes this image so wonderful? The way you shot the flowers, buildings, palm trees and the fountains. All those verticle elements, seeming mostly equal in scale, creating a surreal landscape!! Not to mention the contrast of organic and inorganic shapes!! Wonderful!!!

I dont even know what smog is. #:o/ Im such an eskimoe...sigh. But i do know that im fascinated by those big buildings you have in america. I betcha our tallest buildings isnt even half the size of a regular Mac Donalds over there. I would sure love to visit USA one of these days, and California is one of the top on my list. Beautiful composition my friend, it looks perfect with that infinitive focus. Have a most wonderful sunday. #:O)

Lovely shot, I was shooting today for the tv news I work for and I almost melt!! It was 105 degrees in downtown L.A! Great shot of an area that is rather dangerous, great composition and depth!
