Description

I was watering my hanging begonia plant, when a little wren flew out of the plant. I looked down and there were these beautiful blue eggs. I watched for the Mother Wren to come back but I'm afraid I got her and the nest wet and she never came to the plant again that day. Poor poor babies, but I was tickled to get this little treasure. I hated that I poured water on her and made her leave the nest and her babies. I have never heard of a bird making a nest in a hanging basket before. I still have yet to call the Cancer Center and schedule an appointment to see the Oncologist. I just can't seem to do that one small task yet. I added a border and frame in PSP 9. All comments are most appreciated. Hugs, Susan~

This is a great picture. When I was in kindergarten I wrote a story about a little girl who finds a nest of blue eggs. My mother still has that story. I wrote it in crayon and illustrated it. Ah, memories.

Lovely photo, and a sad little explanation to go with it. But it wasn't a deliberate act on your part so I'm sure you're forgiven. Do look after yourself, Susan, whatever that takes ... Best regards Mike

That is such a beautiful capture Susan! Those eggs are so perfect and yes, you wonder why these little birds build nests in such odd places. I know you didn't mean to shower the nest or the bird ` these things do happen! Please call there soon...okay? Hugs!!

Ohhh, such perfect little eggs! The blue is so wonderfully beautiful! Almost like colored Easter Eggs! What a treasure. At least they aren't endangered. Don't worry about it. Plenty of Wrens in the world...lol Nice one, Buddy. DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO!

My, they look delicious! Just kidding. I'm reminded of Shrek, and how badly the girl felt about blowing up Momma Bird and leaving the eggs un-attended. So she fries them for breakfast. Hey, the audience laughed too, I'm not the only sickie around these parts. I really do hope Momma Bird returns. If not, take some solace in that her treasured creation is now on view for everyone to witness for, perhaps, a very long time. P.s. If Momma doesn't return, then don't try to hatch them yourself. They look very fragile and you might crush them. Super Pic Susan! I really hope your puttin off the doctor has no serious repercussions. Hugs from Dave :^)

That's a fantastic shot. I had little finches come back two years in a row and make a nest in my fuschia. They had the babies until they grew. I just watered the plant, next to the nest. The third year I kept finding babies on the floor dead. I had found three little blue eggs and one huge one. The big egg was the one that had the big baby, and it alone survived. It seems later I found out it was a cuckoo. The push out the other babies. This year I didn't get any finch I went to water my plant and she flew out. So she decided to make a nest across the street under her porch roof. I guess I startled her. Your bird probably figured it wasn't safe for her either.
