Description

Thanks for the comments and visits to the twin giraffes Tall double trouble:

thumb_1326334.jpg

The subtle play with capitals in the title of "Big ...C..." is to show support not only for those affected but also for those people trying to make a difference: visit this friend's forum thread.

These White Rhinos, (Ceratotherium simum) bull and cow (facing us) were photographed near where I live in Leeudoringstad (South Africa). The White Rhino is not named for the color of its skin but for the original Dutch word "wijd bek" (whide mouthed) rhinoceros. Another trait I share with them is poor eyesight. Ok, I quit the biology lesson, LOL! I hope you enjoy looking at the couple.

A terible desease, some day a cure will be found, perhaps in our life time, but that is no solice to those families effected by it, and they are many. Great dedication. Also a majestic creature that faces it's own struggle! If you have never heard it, you should hear Adrian Belew's song "Lone Rhinoceros".

A fun angle, as others have pointed out, looks like two rhinos spliced together :P. I like this shot.

Great capture, including the stark contrast of light and darkness, of a couple of bookends. Did they threaten to charge? Did you know that rhino's horns are made of the same stuff as our fingernails? I knew we were related somehow.

I actually enjoyed the biology lesson. Die Oom en die Tannie het weer lekker rondgeloop ne? Ek het sommer baie van gister se upload gehou! Sjoe! Die tweetjies is omtrent cute! Het die Oom nie ook Olifante afgeneem nie? Ek vra sommer... Hulle is my gunsteling en ek kan omtrent liries raak oor die outjies. Anyway - stunning capture Oom Piet!
