Description

Upload: 019 V Title: Lost Series: Berkeley Telephone Poles Location: Berkeley, California Date: October 18, 2006 Image: N01062M1c Camera: Nikon D70, Full Frame Commentary: One of my favorite haunts happens to be around the University of Berkeley and within the city vicinity, where all sorts of fliers are stapled, taped, nailed and even screwed to telephone poles. Over a short time the fliers are removed by the very same people, who stroll the streets adding new layers of handbills to the poles in an endless cycle to which there is no end. What I find are abstract designs among these pieces of paper that are left behind and over time merge into a homogenous mass of paper and metal I find irresistible.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and commenting. Vielen danke das sie die Zeit genommen haben meine Arbeit zu betrachten und darauf zu Kommentieren. Egmont

The very 'busy' look of this image provides a pertinent commentary on modern life where everybody is in a rush to do their own thing (put up their poster) but do not have the time or inclination to remove the old ones. This is perfect for you though Egmont as you are able to find these revealing compositions amongst the detritus. I look forward to more. Top marks!!

Great work. I love the collage and abstract that occur in nature and at random. This one is like a quilt of humanity. One of my favorite places also. Interesting and unique. Thanks for the great capture and your great eye!

Such a chaotic amass of paper - every poster is lost amongst the others. What chance of anyone ever standing there and actually reading the notices? A visual masterpiece in composition here Egmont - you have such an artistic eye for these things - I would have probably just walked straight past it but I'm glad you were able to see the art in this capture. xx

Hello, dear Egmont, A powerful work that speaks very much of the rush of life. Wonderful colours, I like the metal too. I honestly believe you can make an artwork of anything!! You have vision and a wonderful eye for the shot. A superb work from you. Hugs. Diane.

Looks like an example of the colosal mass media, like a entire human epidemy. rarely clearing question and covering, like in the picture, the human faces, like if they belomg also to the Great Monster. And really lost is the men in this ocean. Great vision, Egmont!

What a great find Egmont! Most people would walk on by this sort of thing but, oh no, not you! You take something out of everyday life and turn it into something special. Well done, my friend. Eileen xx

I do so love viewing these telephone pole finds of yours. This one strikes the right balance between color and shape and I could spend many minutes looking over it, searching for hidden meanings and lost thoughts. :)
