Description

Firstly I want to thank you for your warm welcome back, and the generous comments on my last posting. If you love rule of thirds you're gonna hate this one :D This shot was made a couple of hours later and not far away. The black cloud has gone and it is now a fine summers day at the Sycamore tree. Full size view available by clicking on the image. I'll let you work out the title ;) Many thanks for viewing and your comments are as ever appreciated. Richard.

Do you realize how much the cloud complemets the image? Try looking at the shot with just a plain blue sky and the image is not as dramatic. I think it is a credit to you that you timed this shot well.

Thanks folks: Chaos the frame is just to get a black background for here I doubt I will mat the print with black. Geefal - yes I took the shot with various shapes of cloud in the background ;)

Gorgeous natural framing adds depth and import to the position of the lone tree. Hi impact stuff Richard!

Ah yes, the tree from the early part of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves film just after Robin and Azim have landed on the English shores, but I believe that this tree is actually in Scotland, on, or near Hadrian's Wall. Excellent shot! I often use square cropping too - welcome to the non-conformists club! lol.

One of those times to throw away the rule book the shot would not look as good any other way

Great capture! Wonderful! 2/3 what? Agree with chaosfrag though - the frame is a bit suffocating. Maybe it would work better in white? Anyway - it's a very good image! Bravo!

A very interesting and unusual landscape, If it were covered in snow it might resemble a half-pipe for snowboarding! Cool capture and a tribute to your artistic eye for seeing it.

First off I don't pay much attention to rules if we did there wouldn't be photos like this one. I love the natural stone encasement around the base. Looks like a wonderful place to set and enjoy a beautiful, peaceful place. Wonderful shot with a unusual perspective.

Hopefully & happily !! first, even if I understood you referred to Robin Hood, rockstrider gave me the solution, because I forgot the early part of the story overgame :( scdly, you and others comments here, give me (the old apprentice) "breathe back" as severals agree man can throw away the rules book, sometime ! thirdly, I'm ok with you about the dark frame enhanced the depth shot, only I would choose smaller sides, but it's not my work !!! lol It's a great pic, Richard. I love this majestic age-old tree in this wonderful landscape & sky q:) Magali

Love the compo, Richard. One of those times when a centered image looks just right. LOL at the rule of thirds. Rules were made to be broken, ya know, lol. Anyway, welcome back, once again. This is great.
