Title: When all is said and done, this remains
Series: Berkeley Telephone Poles
Location: Berkeley, California
Date: September 18, 2007
Image: N07413M1c
Camera: Nikon D70, Full Frame
Commentary: Ever wondered what all these little pieces of paper become after weeks,
months and even years of collectiveness?
Many of the poles have so much paper that the layers blending together, especially after a
rain. These fragmented messages and pieces of letters merge into indecipherable meanings
and yet each piece builds upon itself like a mosaic, creating in the end an ever-changing
living piece of art.
Then there are a very few poles where all the paper is just about gone, leaving behind only
staples, nails and screws as with When all is said and done, this remains.
At the moment I am very behind answering a number of emails and sending out thank you
notes, so in order to catch up, I will need to take some time off from RR. I will try to look in
now and then during the week. Thank you for your continued support.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and commenting. Vielen danke das sie die Zeit genommen haben meine Arbeit zu betrachten und darauf zu Kommentieren. Egmont

This one is a masterpiwce to me, make my head flled of thoghts about us humans. Our urge to communicate, how fast everything withers down. the traces we leave behind....and much much more. Superb shot my friend!

Great composition. Love the history this shot holds. Excellent!!

At first glance this looks like a horde of insects crawling over the pole, and each one must represent a person who has driven in the staple, some of whom will now be gone like the paper they attached. I love this. A triumph!

Amazing history here. I wonder if the staples are holding the pole together.... Great imagey in this series mate.

Excellent. 5+.

Great artwork, Egmont! Fabulous color-tones and textures, but more important for me, the philosophical approach. Your images tell a story, capture history and are very close to the nucleus of photography.
Arbelain
Really achieved, with your explanation indeed. Bright, Egmont!!

Good evening, dear Egmont, A superb work of art from you. It evokes many feelings from the viewer. It questions what is left, as in life.. The stronger things remain. Your title is wonderful! It reminds me of a quote from Macbeth. "The wine of life is drawn and the mere lees is left this vault to brag of". A splendid end to your series. I agree with Ian, this work is a triumph. Have a beautiful evening. Hugs. Diane.

I love it! great concept.. what does it say about time?
Richardphotos
they have the poster police here and if you post something on a pole, then the owner of the phone number gets a nasty ticket in the mail and any signs on city property.post no bills before their expiration!!excellent texture

Once very much alive and now a burial ground of staplers, life goes on. Eventually, a new generation will appear and the living will repeat itself. Aloha

FANTASTIC WORK ! Art , Art, . "Art , said Picasso , is " a form of magic designed as a mediator between this stange hostile world and us...."

Well if there ever was a great title for a pic, yours is certainly it. An outstanding pice of art, Egmont. Fabulously captured...wonderful tonalities and compo, and fascinating to look at it. It reveals itself to us in layers...just like the subject. High kudos to you on this. It's wonderful to see this series of yours still progressing. Oh and before I go..."creating in the end an ever-changing living piece of art."...That says it all. And my congrats to you for seeing it and freezing that particular moment in time.

your series is getting darker and more intense. the stunning title adds lots of extra value to all the three so far posted...words tend to be forgotten easily, scars remain....

You know that this is a favorite series of mine. This one speaks of a hollocaust, a burnt out ruin, a husk. It reminds me of the girders after the fall of Twin Towers. Powerful.
