Title: When all is said and done, this remains
Series: Berkeley Telephone Poles
Location: Berkeley, California
Date: September 18, 2007
Image: N07413M1c
Camera: Nikon D70, Full Frame
Commentary: Ever wondered what all these little pieces of paper become after weeks,
months and even years of collectiveness?
Many of the poles have so much paper that the layers blending together, especially after a
rain. These fragmented messages and pieces of letters merge into indecipherable meanings
and yet each piece builds upon itself like a mosaic, creating in the end an ever-changing
living piece of art.
Then there are a very few poles where all the paper is just about gone, leaving behind only
staples, nails and screws as with When all is said and done, this remains.
At the moment I am very behind answering a number of emails and sending out thank you
notes, so in order to catch up, I will need to take some time off from RR. I will try to look in
now and then during the week. Thank you for your continued support.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and commenting. Vielen danke das sie die Zeit genommen haben meine Arbeit zu betrachten und darauf zu Kommentieren. Egmont

This series is fantastic. Beautifully lit, composed, processed, and presented. Nice work Egmont!

It's amazing how such a thing as a humble telephone pole can make for such strangely beautiful images. Fantastic work, very well done! ;)

A great capture and a captivating series. A reminder of the abstract that is actually real. The rusted stubborn staples that cling to the pole suggest to me the price we pay to maintain that which we consider valuable and true. I remember years ago when I took pleasure in trying to emancipate these pieces of metal. The whole composition is fantastic. Hope to see you back in RR soon.

Egmont - Thanks for leaving a comment on one of my photos. I just checked your gallery and I'm really blown away by your merging of cubism, papier colle and other stuff. I don't s'pose David Hockney lives next door does he? I presume you have a copy of his book Secret Knowledge.

You and I have both been gone so long my friend, that I missed this beauty...ah...the large staples we talked about...looks like a city of it's own, I can almost see the people there walking through the maze. Fantastic Egmont, I hope you are doing well...new work perhaps?
