Description

The Potala Palace is giant, many levels and a true labyrinth. But the rooms small, dark, with narrow corridors and pass, staircases stiff and slipping, endless. I see Chinese woman, new rich style, visit with tigh dress and shoes with hight heels! The interior is oppressive, claustrophobic, at least to arrive at the terrace on roof. No air to breath and dozens, maybe hundreds of chantrys which burns vases with yak butter like candles. We finds them everywhere in Tibet. Even the tsampa, the ocal food is made with yak butter. Everywhere float the butter yak smell. Everywhere I remember Tibet, I fell the yak butter smell…

Mousson,I do appreciate the image. Did you get the stuff I sent..I hope it will help. This image tells a story of a culture I do not know. You have been there and smelled the smells. Amazing how smell is a sense we often take for granted but can evoke such memories. Thanks for this shot. I do like it.

A yak is not a sheep. Lanolin and greasy kid stuff was the stuff of barber shops in my youth. Then came butch wax. Yikes! what if yak butter becomes a hair spray. You did say stiff.

Awesome image once again my friend. I have no idea what Yak butter smells like but Your images and presentations that go with them are so well done i can almost imagine how that must smell. Beautiful capture and wonderfully presented. The Tibetan government should be paying you for presenting their beautiful land and people in such a wonderful light. I honestly have not come across a series that presented this mystical land so concisely as you have.

Great capture Mousson. Smell is close connected to memory and I think you will always remember Tibet if you smell butter in the future. Like we remember our grandmother if we smell a sentence of her kitchen again. Marvelous photo!
