Description

This is out at my sister-in-law's place on Whidbey Island. They have the most beautiful piece of property, I never get tired of taking pictures out there! I've had this one hanging around since last summer, and didn't really know what to do with it. James (awjay) suggested "natural abstract" as a subject the other day in the Forum, and this one jumped out at me as a candidate for that topic. I abstracted it up a bit in postwork, so that the colors and shapes are what it's about.

I'm too much of a realist; I like the sharper look better, but I really love the composition and the multiplicity of greens in this one.

The green bushes give a very fine background for a bright yellow fan formed reeds. Nice postwork too.

Like a painting from the era of the Impressionists. I love the light coloured grasses in the foreground against the dark green of the trees. Beautiful place.
