Description

Hehe, this is my last upload of this dubious nature. I have been called names like dungographer and Renderosity has started a LWitDG (DON'T ask about the "D"! lol) Kidding aside: This is a manly dung beetle taking home a honeymoon present for his bride. She can be seen in a somewhat passive role on the other side of the ball. Her eggs will be laid inside. While making fun of this, bear in mind, these creatures spend a great deal of their lives in dung and therefore, out of respect,  we don't drive over dung heaps in the bush.

Now you can relax, something moody and heavy next time, more on par with my age. anges022.gif

See you in the August forum challenge.

Thank you for silly comments, dung-eon humor and visits to my previous upload:

I've only seen this on tv, it must be fascinating and amusing to watch this in person. I find it very touching that you don't drive over them out of respect. Even though I'm not fond of insects, all creatures deserve respect, especially now with so many species going extinct from man's greed and insensitivity. Very interesting series, Piet.

Excellent macro capture, Piet and thank you for all of your added information. Educating all of us, who might not ever know the true facts of nature or see in RL what your captures reveal, is such a worthwhile endeavor!! TY TY TY!! Hugz, Robin

I think this has been a great learning tool for those of us that don't live where you are Piet. I watched a documentary that included the dug beetle, pretty amazing little creatures! Fabulous capture too!!!
