Description
This image is for my wonderful friend Nancy or known to many as npauling. Nancy is one of those rare few who are gifted in so many ways as she does brilliant work in Fractals, Photography and Mixed Mediums. A stroll through her gallery will feel like a relaxing walk in a beautiful setting with a long time friend. A while back I asked her if I could do a image and she provided me with many wonderful stories of her and her family but this one really made me smile the most. I hope you enjoy it and hope it brings smiles.Take care,
Dave
Lambpede (For npauling): Nancy was brought up on a mixed crop and livestock farm in the South Island of New Zealand. She loved to do the chores around the farm with her family like tending to their large group of lambs. On this day however during chores a bad storm rolled in and her parents Ken and Rosalie called for the children to begin rounding up the lambs. You see in New Zealand they don't have a lot of large barns, so in the event of a storm you put the little guys anywhere you can find room. They put lambs in the hen houses, the pigsty the implement shed and even some in the kitchen and laundry. They would then spend hours drying and feeding the lambs milk to warm them up. I tried to capture the moment when Nancy (in the raincoat) and her four sisters Sally, Helen, Susan, Janet along with their brother Robert would herd them in the house.

Adorable scene and characters. A perfect expression of a little girl telling them what to do or how naughty they are being. A great dedication for a wonderful artist. Bunny

Another DELIGHTFUL vignette Dave! I really needed a Dave fix and this one sure does the job! The composition and posing are SO good - I love the expressions on all their faces - even the lambs! It's obvious that Nancy was delighted, too. You are getting quite a following - and deservedly too. GREAT job and keep it up!

it's wonderful because you capture vivid expressions for each child, each one unique; and lovely gestures, also each one unique; and very subtle & beautiful shading in the face, the bodies, etc. You even got different expressions in the lambs. And you don't leave out details, like the bobby pin on the right-most girl, or the wonderful bowled-in knees of the left-most girl: Every child has their own set of wholly human details. But you also got the brooding grayish brown of a coming storm. (I'm from the US midwest, and we get that color all the time in summer). And still you made your children wonderfully tactile, like we could pick them up and hold each one. It's one of the features of folklore and fairy tales, that their characters are also wonderfully playful, touchable & childlike. I'm also impressed with the detailing of your windows & brick, etc. I can see why people love your images so much. But there's also the fact that you do these for people's personal lives, and with such care. A child's image for adults as well as children, very true to the dark brooding moment, and in every way a delight.

After reading Dennis's recent post I had to come here and check out your work. I am pleasantly surprised by the wonderful talent you posses and your gift for story telling. The combination makes for a truly wonderful render. What a creative and witty title! As the picture opened I immediately thought it was after the children's song Mary Had a Little Lamb. In which there is a little bit of irony here because as I was opening your page I'm listening to Stevie Ray Vaughn's rendition of Mary Had a Little Lamb. LOL. What immediately caught my eye was the little red head and the lamb in front of her. The expression on the lamb is priceless! Mind you the song is playing as I'm viewing, here I thought she was reprimanding the lamb with a wagging finger for not only following her to school but for bringing his friends too. THen I read your story, a charming one it is. I had to laugh at myself! I went back to your render and realized the little red head was directing the lamb! But I do have to say, this would be a great take on the children's story also. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us ~Michelle~

i was thinking instead of nancy her name might of been mary and the building was the schoolhouse. you ought to illustrate that story. very nice work.

Such a beautiful story....and a great image my friend.........we found 3 abandoned kittens, only about 3 weeks old todat....we were able to get 2 of the 3, 3 others were dead and their mother lying near by with her head gone...so sad....I'm a sucker for helping animals so we are hand feeding them and caring for them just as mama would have.........delightful image Dave...

wonderful innocent work...the only thing I see that you may enhance it is add grass and sidewalk....I dont see very many images with kids in it, so keep posting some more. You show how innocence children are. I have five little ones at home. They sure are special. :)
