Description
I planned on doing a image for a very kind lady but think it best to release this instead considering recent events.I'll do my dedication for my friend when the focus can be on her as it should be. A while back a friend of mine Paul, aka pjlawson was a bit down and I told him this story from my youth to try and cheer him up. In all honesty I never planned on sharing it with anyone else but after thinking it over I decided now would be the perfect time to do so. This is one of those silly and embarrassing stories we all have from our past and I hope it will show people not to take things so seriously. I think we all need to learn to laugh at ourselves from time to time to keep things in perspective. Hope it gave someone a laugh, please have a great weekend and thank you my friends for your support of me in recent weeks.

Limbo Pony: (For My Friends)
When Veronica and I were small we spent weekends at our Grandparents farm. They had horses but we were too small to ride that is until one day Grandpa brought home a pony. Neither Veronica nor I had ever been on a pony before so we were excited and nervous.Veronica went first and was placed on the pony's back and he gently walked around the yard in a small circle almost like a ride. Thinking I was in for the same treatment I was all smiles as Grandpa placed me on the Pony and then let go. To my shock the pony took off at a much faster pace like he had a purpose. To make matters worse it had no intention of taking a casual stroll around the yard with me on it, instead as if possessed it headed for a tree with low branches and scraped me off sending me crashing and screaming to the ground. Battered, bleeding and crying they told me it was a accident and took me inside to put medicine on my cuts. Mean while Veronica went for another ride and as before it was like a gentle merry go round as the pony took her around the yard. Thinking this was just a fluke and the pony was spooked Grandpa lifted me up and placed me on the pony again. In a repeat performance the darn pony made a bee line for the lowest tree it could find, scraping me off once more. Believe it or not I was talked into getting on the evil little pony a third time as Grandpa promised to lead him using the reigns. For a while it worked and I was starting to enjoy the ride. Then Grandpa let go of the reigns to see if it would be okay finally. The moment he let go the sadistic pony made a dash for the nearest low branch to send me spilling to the ground for the third and final time. As you might guess after that I never rode a pony ever again, and thankfully Grandpa got rid of that spawn of Satan.

What's the definition of insanity? Perform the exact same task over and over expecting a different result for each try. How cruel. What a terrible experience for you. Never been on a horse myself but I can well imagine what it might be like if it took a sudden dislike to you and tried to run you off. And they say 'lower' life forms have no sense of humour. The pony looks particularly satisfied with its terrorisation of your younger self. And I'll wager he actually worked hard to keep you on his back just to prolong the agony. Maybe he just doesn't like boys all too much. Or perhaps your sister is a latent horse whisperer. Poor Veronica though, she looks absolutely stunned by the end result of your adventure(s). It's like she can't believe that it was the same horse. This must be the long sought evidence for the existence of concurrent parallel universes.

Omg as bad as it was for you back then this made me laugh and laugh Dave, i could just picture it in my mind and before i'd even looked at your image i knew what it would be like and it's perfectly portrayed. The grin on the horses face set me off again, whether you meant to make him smirk or not thats what it looks like to me and i love it..Little Veronicas face is a picture with her concern clearly showing and your expression says it all "that horse hates me"..lol..I'm so glad you're back to lighten up my life a little bit Dave.

Hilarious stuff. Love the contrast in the expressions: shock on the girl's face, accusation on the boy's and the slight, evil smile given by the pony. I sympathise with you not trusting a horse again. They're all, in my opinion, just waiting for an opportunity.

Wonderful illustration, dear Dave, of this childhood's episode you have so excellently related to us, a real pleasure reading it. I've never really comprehended how Man managed thousands of years ago, to tame horses, and I quite share your view on the mysterious frame of mind and behaviour of this species ;-)...More to read in reply to your recent 'short' message I also read with much interest, thanks a million and check your mail-box here soon :-)..I'm desperately longing for some sleep to be caught up on tonight grrr...work, work, work! I am glad you've resumed posting again, with this magnificent and expressive composition.

Life and its experiences make us who we are and being able to share those experiences with those we love, our friends and whom we hardly know takes us another step closer to who we are to become.... I have missed your work and kindness for others and so glad to have the chance to drop by again. Do what you do my friend cause without people like you this planet it would be empty... Excellent....

A darling and expressive scene and such a funny story. Can't believe you got back on 3 times! Reminds me of a bad experience I had when I was 10 - our family went to a Dude Ranch for a vacation and while I was riding a horse on a narrow trail the horse suddenly got spooked and reared back ... fortunately the horse didn't go to the right as we would have gone over a cliff. Instead it ran to the left, bucked me off and I landed butt first in a cactus bush! My jeans were nailed to my rear end. Oh how I moaned when my mom took those needles out ... and, though I adore horses, I never rode a horse again. :o) CC

So glad to see you posting again! You're a great story teller (with your pictures & your words)& that's really some experience you had. I'm sorry you had such a poor introduction to horses though! Maybe the pony had been mistreated by a boy previously! I've heard of such things happening.

Glad your back posting ... Xcellent POV and use of all these characters Dave. Bravo my friend !!!
