Description
I planned on doing a image for a very kind lady but think it best to release this instead considering recent events.I'll do my dedication for my friend when the focus can be on her as it should be. A while back a friend of mine Paul, aka pjlawson was a bit down and I told him this story from my youth to try and cheer him up. In all honesty I never planned on sharing it with anyone else but after thinking it over I decided now would be the perfect time to do so. This is one of those silly and embarrassing stories we all have from our past and I hope it will show people not to take things so seriously. I think we all need to learn to laugh at ourselves from time to time to keep things in perspective. Hope it gave someone a laugh, please have a great weekend and thank you my friends for your support of me in recent weeks.

Limbo Pony: (For My Friends)
When Veronica and I were small we spent weekends at our Grandparents farm. They had horses but we were too small to ride that is until one day Grandpa brought home a pony. Neither Veronica nor I had ever been on a pony before so we were excited and nervous.Veronica went first and was placed on the pony's back and he gently walked around the yard in a small circle almost like a ride. Thinking I was in for the same treatment I was all smiles as Grandpa placed me on the Pony and then let go. To my shock the pony took off at a much faster pace like he had a purpose. To make matters worse it had no intention of taking a casual stroll around the yard with me on it, instead as if possessed it headed for a tree with low branches and scraped me off sending me crashing and screaming to the ground. Battered, bleeding and crying they told me it was a accident and took me inside to put medicine on my cuts. Mean while Veronica went for another ride and as before it was like a gentle merry go round as the pony took her around the yard. Thinking this was just a fluke and the pony was spooked Grandpa lifted me up and placed me on the pony again. In a repeat performance the darn pony made a bee line for the lowest tree it could find, scraping me off once more. Believe it or not I was talked into getting on the evil little pony a third time as Grandpa promised to lead him using the reigns. For a while it worked and I was starting to enjoy the ride. Then Grandpa let go of the reigns to see if it would be okay finally. The moment he let go the sadistic pony made a dash for the nearest low branch to send me spilling to the ground for the third and final time. As you might guess after that I never rode a pony ever again, and thankfully Grandpa got rid of that spawn of Satan.

very nice pic. you were a very nice looking child. when i was a child once a week my family had a family meeting. like a board meeting. my father was a banker and the meeting was very formal with motions and voting and minutes taken and read. we collected dues; had officers: the whole nine yards. we would usually use the dues for a monthly outing. we voted to have one of our outings to go horseback riding. so one weekend we go out to this farm or ranch out in the country. my father found some place inexpensive that really hadn't done this kind of thing before. we get there and this beautiful stallion herds in about eight our nine slugish mares back to this ranch family. they sadle up three of the mares and the stallion. my mother, sister, and i are put on three mares. the three mares begin grazing with us on their backs as if oblivious to the fact that we were even there. the mares go where they want and feed and never listen to any of our commands or reign pulls and prodding or whatever; but nobody really minds. we have nowhere to go and just being up on top of a big gentle horse is a big thrill for us. then all of a sudden we see my father on top of the stallion. the beautiful sleek muscular beast comes charging in at a million miles per hour. my father who had some experience as a horseman is managing to cling on to this crazy steed as he bucks and jumps just like the bucking broncos at the rodeo. the wild stallion decides to give up the conventional approach of bucking to get my father of his back; and decides, instead, to lay on the ground a role over to get rid of his passenger. when the horse went to lay down, my father jumped off just in time before the horse rolled over. us city slickers got some of our money back and went home.

This is a very cute story. I can say we have all had our spills. Though a bucking horse landed me in the mud..... Thank you for sharing your experience with us. By the way the render is cool too!:D

The story did bring a smile to my face although there is nothing for you to be embarrassed about here: you tried three times. To paraphrase a favorite song of mine "if at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again." You certainly did that, including the dusting off part :) Great illustration and wonderful story. Thank you for sharing it with us.

So superb scene expressing what's is written

LOL! Actually, all things considered, you're lucky you came out with only cuts, bruises, and slight shock. Indeed, it must have been scary, and frustrating.

Oh my, you fell off!! I one time went to a park with pony's and walked with a big circle behind the animal as me was taught to do, but he walked backwards and hit my knee so hard that I cried half the way I sat on it. Camels, Elephants and Lama's this last hollidays were nicer for me ;). You made a wonderful render from the story Magnus! After reading I noticed grandpa! :)

Aww this is just wonderful story! Excellent creation. I love horses very much and got my fair share of broken bones, broken shoulders and head injuries, but somehow I can never hate them. I just get up and do it all over again.

Dave, as usual, you have made me smile, laugh, chuckle, and you've touched my heart. Horses and ponies learn pretty quick that if they can ditch their rider, they can have a nice day in the pasture. We used to call them barn horsed, because they didn't want to leave the barn and would try all kinds of tricks, like scraping riders off the their backs by going under low hanging braches, then they'd run like the wind for the barn! You've captured your story so beautifully!

Oh you poor little thing! I think your grandpa should have had to get up on that horse for awhile!!! What a nice image and, although not a pleasant memory, nice of you to share it with us. :) ~Missy~

Dave, What a wonderful combination of story and image! You are so right about being able to laugh at ourselves. Those who are too serious, or unbending to do so, don't know what they are missing. Just a couple of weeks ago, I fell over a watermelon that my mom had set on the floor because there was no room in the refrigerator. Despite the pain in my elbow and knee, I was laughing while I got up from the floor! Keep a smile on your face, and in your heart! This is great! Lea
