Description

I went to a park in Arlington Texas Friday and just after I entered a forested walk path, I was lucky to see a Giant Swallowtail fly right by me and land.it stayed long enough for me to get 20 shots The Giant Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio cresphontes) is a swallowtail butterfly common in various parts of North America, particularly the south and east. With a wingspan of about 10-16 cm , it is the largest butterfly in the United States. The adults' wings are black, with two striking yellow stripes across the forewings and hindwings. Giant Swallowtails feed on the nectar of a variety of flowers, but are known to enjoy azalea, bougainvilla, goldenrod, Japanese honeysuckle, and milkweed . thanks for viewing and any comments

That is cool. I went to the zoo and went into the butterfly tent to take picture(before my SLR) and I think I got just a few good shots because they stayed still long enought to get a good one.So very nice shot Richard
