Description

Native to the Himalaya, this beautiful flower is considered to be an invasive species in the UK and the US. (And probably many other places, as well!) Its species name is impatiens glandulifera (Giant Impatiens), and it lives up to its name, growing to about six or eight feet! I've read that it was collected by the Kew in the mid-1800s, and it got loose in England. Easy to believe ... when the seeds are ripe, the pods explode and the seeds can shoot as far as 20 feet!
