Description

Mornin' All ! Yep, I bet you all can hardly contain yourselves with excitement over today's post :o) Well, I just couldn't resist posting this since it's a little pineapple I grew myself and it came out so cute and perfect...and yep, I'm a big garden geek :o) I know pineapples aren't the first thing that comes to mind at this season, but any bounty, no matter how small, can be appreciated. And it's soooo easy to grow your own if any of you feel so inclined.....just cut the top off leaving about a half inch of pulp, let it dry out for a day or so, then plant in a pot of soil....takes a while for it to grow the fruit, but it's well worth the wait....this little one was one of the sweetest I've ever had. * * * Some Pineapple Facts : The pineapple is not a single fruit as generally assumed, but a cluster of 100-200 tiny fruitlets. One third of the world's pineapple comes from Hawaii. Pineapples are the only edible members of the Bromeliad family of plants. And a couple of other interesting facts I found while perusing my Audubon Field Guide : Air plants and Spanish Moss are in the Pineapple Family An off-topic fact which surprised me, Mangos and Poison Ivy are in the Cashew Family ! ....interesting, eh :o) Y'all have a great Sunday ! ~ Love & Hugs ~ * Mina *

Wonderful shot and story, Sugar plum. #:o) Seeing a picture like this, tells a lot about people. Very cool stuff in this picture. My doctor told me not to eat pineapples. It really disturbes the taste of my cigarettes. Love the cat statue... boy that is the coolest statue i've seen in a long time...Nice candles too and all... love candles..makes a great atmosphere. The many coloured corn's looks cool too. A very interesting photo, which really tell something about you. Great to see this. And no i havn't forgotten the pineapple.. your pride:) It is beautiful.. you did care for it very well.

A marvelous pineapple. The fun of growing things is watching them grow and then the added bonus of eating them. Can't grow that kind of stuff up on the mountain, however I did try to grow tomatoes one summer. After much work and waiting, I finally got one perfect little tomato and just before I could pick it a bear came up on our deck and sat on the plant, squashing that little tomato flat.:o) CC
