Description
Well - this is my first image from our visit to the Monte Casino Bird Conservatory close to where we live. It is actually so hilarious how we both tried to capture several of these beauties, but every time it was just tail feathers, or half a bird or something else unuseable on screen!!! They were just so skittish and also much more interested in the female pheasants!!! We were on our last stretch of the path when this guy ran across the walkway infront of me. Luckily I had the camera ready and just shot... this is the result...

The Golden Pheasant is one of my favourites Carin, the plumage of this bird is fantastic, well I think so at any rate. Love the shadow on this as well, it belies the shape of the bird but I still like it. Catching it mid stride gives it a slightly comical look, but then you said it was an hilarious time you had there. Excellent capture, superb detail in the plumage. Bravo!!!!!

This is fantastic! Birds can be so incredibly extravagant and this little guy is no exception. You captured the colors brilliantly, and I like the fact that he was caught mid-stride...the one-legged pose is quite dramatic, as dramatic as his extreme formal wear!

Teh golden pheasant is a beautiful bird, smaller than the normal field pheasant as I recall but more stocky. This is a great shot.

Marvelous golden colors emanate from the royal avian as it stands frozen, projecting a dark shadow on the surface below, in this candid shot, Carin. No doubt, despite the focusing difficulties, it must be pleasant to capture pheasants as they strut about, seeking the feathered ladies.
