Description

Please forgive the working title , I couldn't help myself! Ok don't have much to say today, (and they all exclaim..... A resounding .... Thank God!!) ;) I spent about 2 hrs last nite on this and 2 hours today, because of some of the smaller details and the fact that it was painted wet into wet, I was forced to use a mall stick, a very clumsy and nessesary, evil little tool!! ;) (serves me right for choosing to work in such a slow drying medium) Same pallette as mentioned before, except for the addition of allizarion crimson, which is mixed with mars black for the darkest darks, I don't like to use pure black , as it seems to visually cut a hole in a canvas ! While speaking of black, my preference is mars black for warm paintings and ivory black for cooler paintings. One of the problems ascosiated with working without a reference.... is folds in clothing... THEY ARE SO HARD FOR ME TO FAKE!! I hate the right sleeve ... finally gave up on it for now. Might cut the sleave off a sweatshirt and have Trina photograph me . tom p.s. I found an amazing brush cleaner, made by Cleanstrip: it will even remove hardened paint, and the fumes have an interesting and fun side effect, they make me.... giggle,.... so now i'm keeping an open can of it right beside my easel, just for fun! ;) Wow ... it's a good thing I didn't have a lot to say!!!! Thanks again to all of you for watching and your gracious comments!!!!

The metal looks great, and the red shade and tones are super as well. Now, where do I get that cleaner, I need a lot of giggles. ;)))

It all looks A-1 to me. The eight metal strips that make up the breast plate look great. The shiny reflectiveness is superb.

What have been most interesting for me in this series have been the realization that real painters do a sketch before starting with the oil colors. And whats special with Allison is that he doesn't need any reference to draw the hill. If I need a hill, I not only need one reference, I need two (2), picking the best hill stuff from both in order to produce the best hill imaginable.

Wow I am once again just left amazed. The armor looks really great. What I can't figure out is how you got it so that I can see my reflection in it when I zoom in! ;O)

folds, metal, the wall and their shadows, it all works so fine together. i mean there are often enough parts in an image difficult to integrate into it because of too much black, or lack of depth, or the opposite. it looks great so far, without a doubt, atmosphere and mood comes more and more alive!

The armature shows how sharp you are. Well, I know I cannot go beyond 'shadow net'. Cut sleeves for a referance !!!!!!!!! I like ur observation about black colour. and good information. p.s. Now I got the meaning of the title.
