I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

I'm a mapper too. But this shot is stunning, you could have just said you went that far out of your way to get it and we'd have believed you and thought it worthwhile!

This is wonderful. I like GPS a whole lot, hate when people insist that researching the terrain maps is pointless. Now you never have to trust any GPS again, even if asked. Hehe. And if you're really in the mood, you can hang this work of art on your wall as a reminder to all.

I just never had the need for GPS.my cell phone has it but I am not going to pay att a dime to use it.on Jocko500 and my trip last April, I sure was wanting my former FJ Cruiser Toyota to be able to travel in deep snow, but the cost of fuel was prohibitive back when I had it. excellent lighting and capture

Stunning capture Carin.

Great shot with lovely mood, I'm a map man but use the GPS for the last few miles if I need it. The GPS once nearly took the top off my van, it led me under a low bridge which was clearly marked, but in the UK you dont expect the bridge to be so low only a car can go under it.

Lovely pic! I'm a map girl, much prefer to do as you. One of our coach companies has banned GPS, after a group of school children missed their day at Hampton Court Palace when GPS took them to a dirty back street called Hampton Court on a council estate miles away!

Outstanding photo, Carin! I agree that you could have said that you planned this shot adn no one would have been the wiser. However, I do agree that using a map is the best way, which is why I'm the designated navigator!

Well, so much for GPS technology. Back to good old paper maps, right, Carin? In any event, a masterful capture of this beautiful, tranquil scene. So tranquil in fact, that my eye lids are getting heavier and heavier as I gaze upon the scene.

Glorious Capture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as I understand GPS it is as the crow flies and most roads are not built that way????????????

I'll go with my GPS any day :) :) I love mine! So what if it took 2 hrs extra.. what's the rush!!??? :) :) You got to see things you wouldn't have been able to see had you taken the well beaten path. Besides, those are boring. I love this Carin ... now throw them paper maps away ... heck with 'em. lol :P
