Description

Quite some time ago I asked Piet (busi2ness) if it was okay if I used one of the photographs he'd shown me as the reference for a painting. He generously agreed, and I saved the image for future use. I finally got around to doing the painting this weekend, and sent him a note: "Do you remember I wanted to paint your image of a giraffe at sunset? Well, it's finally done!" He said, "I'll make sure to upload the photograph, then!" As it turns out, the image he thought I had painted wasn't the one I'd painted, but it's quite similar! Check out Piet's beautiful image from this morning entitled Tall Sunset. You'll see why I was so inspired! .......... Created in ArtRage and Photoshop

Holy smoken' sunsets! Biff, Pow, Boom!!! You did a great job on this silouette against the setting sun. Pardon my Batman impression...just got a bit carried away by your mighty fine results. Now, I nip off and see Piet's upload. Applause for you both this morning.

Oh Tara you did a wonderful job! I am so dumb when it comes to being creative and yet I yearn to be creative. The textures came out very well, compared to this original. Maybe I can upload this original sometime in future.

WOW!!! You are most certainly one of the most multi talented people I ...?, almost know!!! The sunset is absolutely beautiful, and the silhouette most definitely emotes a recent memory and urge within me. I can't quite put my finger on it right now, but I'm sure it will come back to me soon!

LOL you didn't have to say a word , he did it himself! He had no idea you were going to post this. I am so afraid of what he is going to comment on Piet's post. This is incredible, I knew you could paint, but this is breath taking. Wow Tara!

Just in case anybody wonders if elfin12u and elfin14doaks have gone crazy, the answer is ... NO! Dave (elfin12u) has a romantic history with a giraffe ... you can see it here just in case you think I'm kidding! :D

lol, on Dave's giraffe affair. It's a great shot. And I saw Piet's post and it's beautiful. (I'll comment on both in a minute...) Your silhouette is beautiful, and your articulation of the grasses is full, as well as the branches of the trees—I like that they're thick & full against this big beautiful sky. And the sky is beautiful too. Nice transformation into a painting, it feels very grand & lonely & very majestic. And it's clearly a painting and not a photograph, a painter's interpretation of a photograph. Lovely piece, I'm so glad you shared it. ps—I just re-looked at Piet's photograph...you really changed the sky and simplified the piecee; it's really an 'essentializing' of his photograph. It gets at the essence of night & silhouette. Truly a painting. Lovely work Tara...

Oh, Tara, this is gorgeous. I love the rich sunset tones and the really sharp silhouette. The mood you captured here is amazing. I also get a whole Zen-vibe from this...everything seems pared down to its essential elements, but there's a richness that remains. This is superb.
