Description

I'm sure the reason for the dedication is obvious to anyone who has seen Bill's gallery ... it is home to so many beautiful backyard birds! :) Thank you, my friend, for your inspiration. The only songbird in my gallery! When I was at MooseRidge last weekend I came upon this robin. He looks a little frazzled, but I think he'd probably just gotten out of the bath. This was shot hand held and zoom, and I feel quite fortunate that it turned out as well as it did! I'm no wildlife photographer ... things that hold still are more my baliwick ... but I guess sometimes the shutter clicks just at the right time! ---> Thanks to Andrea for reminding me to tell you the latin name, for those of you who wonder about these things. This common robin rejoices in the moniker of "turdus migratorius." No, I'm not kidding! Zoom is good.

Ruffled but clean! In this heat we are having I put out a big saucer like container of water in the front yard and the robins have been taking many baths to stay cool. It is fun to watch them.

Aww, what a sweet frazzled robin...and a great shot! I pity all the birds right now, there's a crow that's been sitting around in the shade with his beak open in my backyard for a couple of days now, just trying to keep cool. I wish I had a fountain back there for them!

Great shot! I know the feeling about capturing certain creatures and/or objects. Life just gets in the way a bit! the heat we're having down in SW Washington is no more enjoyable for these birds. I've got shallow containers and the bird bath filled all the time and sometimes I empty them and put in cooler water for the birds. When they sing while cooling off, it's like they're thanking me for the cool water.

This robin is so different to our robin in the UK ,the only similarity is the red breast .Anyway how you doing and thanks for your continued support Tara :o) Mick

Perfect Tara. Of all my birds, I've only got one or two that are puffed out or frazzled in this way. They are very fleeting moments...so, you did triple good here! And many thanks for the dedi...much appreciated. The very first song bird I photographed was a robin. Careful, you'll be feeding the birds before long:-)

:-) I think you did a fine capture of him, just like you do with all your works! I like his ruffled feathers and I like him sunbathing on the stone/metal(?) turtle! Great catch of his shadow too!
