Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

I've never been into train sets (maybe cos I never had one!!), but this sure is beautiful. Are you positive you didn't just take a shot of downtown Chicago and tilt-shift it! Isn't that Lake Michigan on the right and I'm sure thats Mather Tower on the left pre photoshop........ ;)

Whenever I see model trains, the fellas always have a screwdriver in their hands, fiddling :o) Great model rail, zoom is a must!!!!

Wonderful. Too bad youngsters today are hooked on computer games instead of model trains like when I grew up.

Nice capture Bill this is impressive just love model railways use to have a N gauge set up a few years back, no room where I am now.. So now give ma a screwdriver so I can fiddle LOL.. Love this any more of it??

What a magical model! I always wanted a model train and ached to build my towns and fields for it...my folks didn't quite understand a girl's need for model trains. They bought me a slot car track and cars and my dad and I ended up building a race car model scene. Fun and I cherish the memory, but I still long for that train.........

'boys & their toys', lol! Man, if I had toys like this when I was a kid, I'd never leave home! I remember the model trains at the Museum of Science & Industry, though they may have changed considerably since I've been there. The amazing thing about this shot is that it could almost be a real train in a real valley, etc. I mean, until I read your words I had my doubts. It speaks well of the designers of course, but also of you--you gave it to us in a way that makes it look almost real, ie, the light, the detail, the fading focus in foreground...nice job Bill. I haven't been to that museum in eons. I just remember when I was a kid that we never wanted to leave, and that the parking lot was asphalt hell, it never ended and the walk from the car to the museum--which we were dying to get to--was like a trek across a sun-bleached desert: We literally crawled on the ground gasping for water (just to piss our parents off), it was a great bit. And it ended, I think, with its coal train & some boring guy droning on about carbon gases, and then BOOM! The stuff exploded, and if we had to die on that spot, it would've been ok. We'd completed the journey. I love your chicago pics, btw, everyone of 'm; and I'm glad you're still posting them half a year since you've been here. You really caught the majesty of the city from angles I've never seen; and of course you shot a museum, lol. It's one of your sub-categories, and I assume the Museum of S&I is a gold mine even to an adult. (Though I'd think it'd get a little trying after a few hours...)

wonderful shot of a magnificent work!!!

I like to watch them go. this is wonderful looking

Mind-boggling detail in this. Thanks for sharing it.

OMG, what a modeler's playground! Like ananhata.c, I never had any of this stuff when I was a kid. But I did have a squirt gun and toy lead soldiers to play with. Superlative POV, clarity and detail so starkly apparent in this shot, Bill. I bet if you played around with the focus, you could actually make this look like a real, full size, living scene.

A beautiful little model scene you captured here it almost looks real.

Years ago I used to be a model railroader so this a very interesting shot for me, excellent capture, thanks for sharing!!

Super keen. Model trains get most interesting when your eyeball is down at their level (same with most toys). But then much of the magnificent diorama would be lost to view.
auntietk
The details in this model are wonderful. The light is absolutely spectacular!

Great capture of a dream, Bill. Great work on the display and lighting. Clive

Oeee - boys and their toys... How amazing and the detail is spectacular Bill! It could easily be a scene out of Austria or Germany! :)

The car making its way up the mountain reminds me of a cabin I stayed in over new years. The road up to it was quite intimidating, but once up there the cabin and the view over looking the valley was breathtaking. Great image.
