Description

(Bug Comic) (This is after Tickets ). Bryan's sister Petunia not only offered to drive him all 4 blocks home, but stopped to pick up his mail, and got him something to eat from the drive-through at the Lucky Dragon. Since his teeth were still sore, he opted for rice pudding. He opened his mail while Petunia was deciding what she wanted from the holo menu. He's disappointed that he didn't get the summer job he wanted with the health department, but it looks like he got something a lot cooler-- a two-year grant to go review an insect study from 2100 done in a tiny town called Newton, and then next summer go do real field work there, looking at current insect populations. Petunia thinks this sounds boring, but safe. Bryan reads on to discover that he has to take a safety course first at Fort Tennant about "Working in Areas Compromised by Chemical or Radiological Contamination" and that he is expected to bring Class 4 boots and protective gear. And sign a waiver. He looks at Petunia. "Don't tell Mom that part." He also looks at the seat behind Petunia. "Why is there tape on the seat?" Petunia shrugs. "Bullet hole. It was an accident... don't tell Mom!" Bryan asks what Mrs. Kim *thinks* Petunia does for Global Assurance, and Petunia hands him the rice pudding and says "File Clerk." ---------- EDIT: Since enough people have asked, "Petunia" is called that because as a small child Bryan had trouble saying Priscilla, and it came out "Petunia". Everyone though this was hilarious, since even as a small child Priscilla was not flower-like (the 6-year-old most likely to take shiriken to show and tell, and throw them accurately). So now she answers to Petunia, as long as she likes you;) ________________________ Petunia's morph and texture are mostly gypsyangel's Giselle for V4, at Daz. Too much of this is painted from scratch--I somehow deleted the PZ file before I was done, and couldn't re-render problem areas. The Thunderbolt car, which you can't even see, is spectacular--the door opens, the windows go up and down, and more.

i love this exchange. just hilarious. it makes me wish i had siblings. i'm a little disappointed for the weirdest reason. i don't know why, but i was really looking forward to seeing the pudding :). another inexplicable reaction to this image is how my eyes keep coming back to the seat harnesses. i think because they're so flat and red. great body language, and the lighting is the kind of odd lighting i'd expect at a drive through. Bryan especially looks lit by a sort of random big fluorescent back-lit sign. the vehicle interior is great, and renews my curiosity about the rest of the world. i'm so glad Bryan is safe and sound, even though we knew that ahead of time.
