Description

(Bug Comic) (This is earlier on Friday, around noon when Mrs. Kim was thinking of going for lunch, Bryan was still grading tests, and after Rain's hat shopping.) ------------- And here is Bryan's Library Angel. It's a big tacky marble statue of Saint Michael (God's Brass Knuckles, as a Catholic friend of Bryan's put it), and it's in the back lobby of the Law Library, down the hall from Mrs. Kim's office. (There is a matching statue of Justice in the front lobby, but Bryan isn't keen on that one--when he was little, her blindfold scared him, since she has a sword too, but can't see where she's swinging it). And she has no shirt. Bryan found St. Michael on a day when he was four years old, and Mrs. Kim had to take him to work. He then wandered out of her office, climbed up the 2 story velvet drapes in the front lobby to look at a moth, got stuck at the top, and Mrs. Kim had to get a ladder to get him down, She told him he "needed a guardian angel", told him not to climb drapes anymore, and go find a book. Instead he found St. Michael, and came running back to tell Mrs. Kim that she didn't need to worry, he'd found an angel. (This is probably what started his angel fixation, too.) Rain isn't impressed by the statue--there's no hand guard on the sword, and he was more interested in the light above the statue, and how it's lit so evenly (there is an LED panel behind it). He's also slightly lost--he's trying to figure out which side of the building he's in, and he feels foolish because instead of using the map to find the building, he was following his nose...or rather the scent of book bindings, paper, glue, mold and disinfectant that means a public library. (Aer were designed to be hunters, so they have an excellent sense of smell, which in Rain's case makes up for his myopic IR vision.) So while he's trying to work the map, Mrs. Kim is coming down the hallway to see what he's doing. (She smells like jasmine tea and expensive soap).

Ok, I have to ask, but is that a Canadian Navy flag on the skylight? I like the tacky statue, and the scene is really nicely lit. Actually, this may sound wierd, but I really like the texture of the statue base. (And that is one cool hat).

I knew the guy Mrs Kim was working on er for, was gonna be Rain. Who else would have a cowboy hat. He looks a bit perplexed.

LOL I knew it had to be Rain when you said she had helped a poor lost soul with a stetson! I love the description of the blindfolded Justice swinging the sword about. It does make you wonder! Outstanding work!!!
