Description

(Bug Comic) You got to see Bryan snoozing late Friday/early Saturday, and now here's Rain back at home that same Saturday morning. The Ellesburg Metro police retrieved Rain's stuff from his hotel (Rain was thrilled at saving a night's lodging, as well as avoiding The Elevator), and they had put him on a cargo plane to Olympia, (his first flight ever-- he was afraid at first to walk around, in case he would tip the plane), and from there the Cascadia State Police drove him home. So here he is in his own bedroom; no electricity,a fireplace, a straw mattress, and his pet cat, but you can see he's comfortable. He is going to get up in about an hour to get the two house cows ready for milking, so he's going to read instead of sleep, since he's still wound up. Above his head is his "bug whacking" equipment, which gets used just in the summer during bug season; the sword for smallish, dog-sized bugs, a spear for those calf-sized bugs, and the Longbow for the once-a-year, buffalo-sized bug. "Bob" is the elderly bobcat on the bed. Rain has no idea it's not a regular cat--he found it as a kitten in the woods and brought in in, and his Aunt Marian told him he couldn't keep it, because "it would grow up, bite him, eat the chickens and pee in the laundry." After much argument, Rain's grandfather, who normally doesn't get along with Rain, told Marian that Rain could keep the cat. As for Marian's prediction, she was wrong--Bob has never bitten *anyone*, though he does occasionally eat a chicken (Marian says it saved her having to clean it for him anyway), and Marian and Rain's cousins have learned to keep lids over the laundry baskets. Mostly Bob now snoozes on the bed, or looks for mice in the cow barn. The crazy blue boots are important, or at least the soles are--along with the sword, they belonged to Rain's mom. And if you look close, you can see scars on Rain's calves from his first encounter with bugs in the lower pastures--since then, his father has made Rain (and his cousin and younger brother) leg armor for bug hunting. ---- I'm actually skipping an unfinished panel here of Rain flying home--I was going to finish it this week, but between taxes and a web server going away I've been busy--I'll load it later into one of the doll pic slots. Most of the furniture here is by Traveller at RDNA.

Oh my that blanket is fantastic!! I hope it doesn't shed. That would be a disaster. Rain has a rather rustic looking room. It suits him I think. The "kitty" is gorgeous. I'm glad his uncle let him keep it!

wow. you really outdid yourself on all the fur in this one. the way you made the ripples in the blanket is just incredible. it's a beautifully simple and spare room. i think i really like Rain. the details in this are lovely. everything comes together so smoothly in this one. the painted elements and photographic textures mesh very well. the wedding photo of his mother is a sweet touch. if all they had to do was put the lid on laundry, i'm really impressed. we have a domestic tom, and despite all efforts, he just marks things every now and then. like our comics, the bath mat, blankets, the rug.... comic bags really do protect comics well.

Rain is such a handsome devil! I was hoping he and Bryan could meet and become friends, at least! I can't add anymore phrases to the many many excellent comments you have already received other than to say that I just LOVE this scene! Your artwork is top notch and a pleasure to view! Thank you for sharing your exquisite talents here!

Nicely done, another great scene. I'm not very good with such scenes so I can admire :) I especially like the boots at the foot of the bed :) I really like the turquoise boots, did you give credit for these? I can't see...

This is wonderful. I know a man who had a bobcat as a pet and the bobcat would tear up the dogs in the neigtherhood as it got older. he saw big dogs that would nornlly kill a cat just to look at it had big claw marks on it body. at lest the dog fights that happen under his house before the bobcat came along had stopped. Someone did turn him in and he told the police the bobcat was not his as they can see it was in the woods free to roam. So the police had not proof off they went to look for real crime people[ it against the law here to have a bobcat as a pet]

5+++ I really like the story... And as all the others pictures in the series - is this perfect... One may count the hairs in the pelt at his bed... And his pussy-cat or shall we say his tame lynx - fantastic. Will there be an continuation with Bryan and Rain in your Story? Or will they walk on separate ways?
