Description
(Bug Comic) (Same morning, but later, as
Rain at 4 AM )
Since Rain has decided he's going to leave the farm and go to college, he's going to clean out whatever bug nests are close to the farm. He doesn't want to leave bug hunting up to his little brother Leaf in Summer (here, looking like a pyromaniac version of Cupid) and his cousin Randall, the amiable goof holding the butane lighter and the pitchfork. They are about 5 minutes hike from the lowest pasture of the farm, to a tilted rock overlooking the local swamp. Rain can smell bugs, probably under the huge tilted rock he's standing on, and the plan is to light the mass of driftwood under the edge of the rock, smoke out the bugs, and as they run off towards the swamp, Rain will pick them off with the plasma rifle.
Rain has some hillbilly safety equipment in the form of a reinforced spooling measuring tape run through his belt loops and shirt and over to a tree-- his traction boots will keep him on the rock, but since his weight is mostly in his shoulders, he wants the tape for balance, and the spool will keep the tape out of his way. He wouldn't take his shirt off in front of anyone but his brother and cousin--he's very self-conscious about the scar across his ribs. He didn't get it from bugs, but from an incident he's not very proud of.

In case you are wondering, Leaf looks much more like his father than his Aer mother; only at certain angles can you see his eyes have some of the reflective look of the Aer. He doesn't have any IR vision to speak of. Randall is just your regular human guy, though he's a genius with horses, if nothing else;)

Leaf!!! Rain's brother is Leaf! I love it! As usual your detailed artwork tells the story along with your well written words. And, btw, those are the only clothes I've seen on Rendo that have "unintentional" holes in them...nice work!

Gosh, what a landscape! It is almost beyond belief this was created in poser and not vue. You show me that I have a long way to go on making my landscapes look even close to realistic. One little nit: Leaf's arrow needs to be a bit longer as it is at the bow edge and not drawn yet. Your stories are always something to look forward to.
