Description
I was going to post a picture of Central Park today but the tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico prompted me to make this scene last night.
I'm sorry for the 11 lives lost tragically, the thousands more whose lives will be ruined and for the enormous loss of animal live and habitat yet to happen.
I live on an island in the Gulf of Mexico in SW Florida, far south of this site, but even here we are feeling the effects, the cell phones aren't working, the network if full. A small inconvenience but I fear it is a symptom of a major crisis of giant proportion as yet unstated.
Is it worth it?
Sorry for the rant, and thanks for looking.
The parrots are from Ken Gilliland's Songbird Remix Parrots of the World collection. The Oil Rig is from C3D.

This is a magnificent composition !! This shore jungle is marvelous !! You have succeeded to render the wonderful lush, the majesty and pure beauty of Nature in contrast with the uglyness and narrow-minded of the cupid mankind !! GREAT work, Patty !! Bravo !!

Beautiful image and very appropriate comment of the tragedy unfolding. I have been seeing stories of the fishing communities that are facing certain destruction of livelihood. I am distressed at the thought of the countless wildlife that will be lost, including one of my favorite birds, the brown pelican. I hope it doesn't spread beyond our already doomed little corner of the world here in Louisiana. I hope the capping and cleanup goes better than is feared. I hope we will wake up to the importance of alternative energy and the true cost of our dependence on oil. So many hopes and I'm not sanguine about them. Thank you for this posting. It is very well done in thought and execution.
