Description

This image is dedicated to all the lovers of paper books, like myself, that haven't (yet) surrendered to the lures of the iPads and similar devices. To tell the truth, within my soul two warriors are battling: the old-fashioned papery warrior and the electronic novelties fan, ready to get in love with the last e-fashion, at a reasonable price. In fact, you'll never see me in a line in front of a shop to be one of the first to buy a gadget. The place in the photo is the 'piano nobile', the 'noble floor' of the 18th century building I have already spoken of. The double doors on the right lead to the staircase and the ground floor hall with the gate to the street and the one to the walled garden. This salon runs along all the building length, leading to a number of rooms, and it was used, in my opinion, to receive a great number of guests or as a dance hall, before it was bequeathed to the Church, of course. Currently the building is used for university students. The girl who is reading is enjoying a bright, sunny day in the veranda that looks out over the walled garden to the rear. The colored fabrics on the wall are part of a series of art installations made by the students. Though modern, they don't disturb the elegance of the salon, but the two stoves and the red fire stuff do. Unfortunately the bishop, generally speaking, doesn't care about architectural harmony, and chose the cheapest solution to heating and safety. Thank you for your kind comments.

Sandra, you did a great job on this thoughtful and wonderful dedi. It sounds like we share the same feelings on this debate. In all honestly there is nothing like holding a book in your hand, and then passing it on to someone.

This is called in France, a base library exists in me, in a beautiful modern library window, faux mahogany. All these books are bound in sheepskin, gilt-edged high. Handle the fables of La Fontaine, or read The Human Comedy of Balzac, seduces me doubly watermarked paper with two guns, Ex Libris, that my daughter gave me one day, birthday and color paper, White cassé.Le beautiful book puts us in communion with the artist as writer, the binder that the printer maker in old ways. Since 6 and I bought a laptop, I never sent a text message! That I do not miss ... the latest is not far away, the latest model!

Fantastic capture and wonderful information. I doubt highly that I will get an eBook of any kind - it would be my luck that the battery would die just as I was finding out who did the dastardly crime.....

I read so much here at the galleries, I have no strength to read elsewhere.when I was in high school, I worked in the library and I took a book home every night to read from front to back.of course we could only watch tv for maybe 2 hours if we were lucky, so I had lots of time this must be a beautiful store

Superb, looks like she's really injoys the book! I have to say I am also a big fan of books, I like how they smell, I like to feel them in my hands, to feel the pages (lol :) I think for some this may sounds weird). Amazing image, thx for sharing! And maybe you'll share some more photos of the rest of the interior :) Ady
