Description
Just fog in my neighborhood... I softened the top to make it like an old glass negative. (Please see full size---it's large.) MORE IMPORTANT: I wanted to post an image for Tara & Bill: They just got married!!! But I've been recovering, so I never finished. So I'll post your image later on... But in the meantime: CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO!!! I wish you all the joy & love in the world!!! We're all incredibly happy for you! (And you met right here on RR!!!) (Ya think fog would be a little inappropriate?) Finally: I commented on almost everyone today. I don't know how soon I'll be back, so the people I missed? Tomorrow, I promise. It was great to be back in your galleries once more...

A lovely and very atmospheric photo. Winter has its own kind of beauty. All the aspens are in a full blaze of color where I live in the mountains - an amazing and inspiring sight. And congrats to Tara & Bill. So great to know love continues to bloom on R'osity, through all the seasons. Be well, my friend, and thank you for your super comment and owl story. Gave me a big smile. :o) CC

What a fantastic light in this shot. Like the sun is fighting the fog and just elbows it self through it, to dry up the street and warm up the city. It is a really lovely capture, Mark. :-)

A fantastic treatment, Mark.Brings to mind the old Robert Shaw fantasy "light of other days."Please get well.

A wonderfully evocative image! (I used to love printing in Black and White, but isn't digi just great? No smells, no hours alone in the darkroom, no expense!) SUPERB, Mark!

dream like quality that is so lovely. Am experimenting with batik on rice papers Mark, may have to get your permission to develop this with that style. Truly lovely

Love the mood on this one

SOOO beautiful! Is that snow, or just the effects of the technique? I love the whiteness of the fog and everything, and the tentativeness of the tree outlines, and even the glare on the windshields of the cars...absolutely fantastic work!

Stunning lighting effects really emphasize the stark contrast and sharp silhouetting in this digifiddled concept of an old glass negative, Mark! And yes, please make a complete recovery, my friend.

Well, sir, this is very gooooood. I have a box of my grandfather's glass negatives probably taken about 1900-1905. You've got the style and look down to a "T". Think of how far we've come in photography during the last 110 years!!! And thank you so much for your good wishes...all very much appreciated:)

This one really is so beautiful Mark, and your idea to give it the appearance of an old glass negative was a true master stroke. Honestly I can't imagine a more thoughtful dedication to your friends during this important time for them. Congratulations to them, and they are blessed to have a friend like you.

A beautiful photo with great light and shadow to give it quite an eerie but beautiful feel. It is such wonderful romantic news about Bill and Tara and they kept it so quiet too. Just shows you what RR can do.

There's that light again--in a very different way---this is just wonderful and has exactly the look you were going for. A great dedi for Tara and Bill as well!!

Etched fog! Wonderful shot and post work - a real throwback to 100 years ago... (although they would have been astonished at all the horseless carriages). Thanks too for the great news about Tara and Bill.

I have never seen a glass negative, or at least don't recall if I did. This is absolutely beautiful Mark, captures the 'old' feel very nicely. I can't see the colors properly (my pc problems)but its a fine shot, the fog is wonderful as is the light!

really awesome outcome, it really looks an old-fashioned photo! a wonderful experiment! Welcome back, Mark!

Chicago fog looks wonderfully moody when you're a bit east in the city. Out farther west, it still looks moody, but also a bit dirty and grungy and kinda nasty, like it's infected with something really um...interesting. I love this shot: the POV is quite perfect: it gives a marvelous sense of scale and depth and delivers the sensation that the fog has as much depth as I've seen in Prague, where the fog arrives every morning, makes the castle look spooky, and then vanishes, but not before leaving dewdrops on spiderwebs. I love the way this evokes that, and the work you did on this is marvelous! The building just barely visible to the right makes an excellent framing reference, and the geometry of the dog-proofing around the grass is quite intriguing. I think of old heliotypes I've seen when I look at this: they're a wee bit different, but the vibe is the same. Needless to say I really like this, and as soon as Corey gets home, I'm gonna show it to him. He gets home today, by the way, and so he'll get to see this and the previous works you've put up. He's quite antsy to get home, so it'll be great to show him cool stuff in the galleries, just so he won't feel so far out of the loop. This is quite marvelous.
