Description

This image is dedicated to Monica, (mgtcs). She is a fantastic artist, and a wonderful lady. She does work in (Poser) and creates the most beautiful images you will ever see. Her images have a beauty and style that is all her own. She adds a special magic to each image that everyone loves. Monica is from Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil and has many wonderful memories of her childhood. Her Mother HYGIA GOMES TEIXEIRA, was a teacher. Hygia managed to teach many classes each day and also take care of her home and raise Monica. She was an amazing lady that was loved by everyone. She taught in school up until the day she passed on, as teaching children was her passion. Her funeral was filled with students of all ages, who's lives she had forever touched. Moments With My Mom (For mgtcs): Monica was one of the smartest children in school, and was reading by the age of four. Her Mom Hygia taught Monica the importance of learning and she developed a love for reading that has lasted all of her life. Hygia loved Monica so very much, and set aside time each night to spend with her daughter. Hygia would set on the couch and lift Monica up next to her. Monica would set as close to her Mom as possible, and the fun would begin. Hygia would hold Monica while reading countless stories to her including one's about her beloved Brazil. After a while Monica would drift off to sleep in the soft embrace of her Mom, comforted by her voice. For me this story was like Monica herself, very beautiful and touching. Update: Thank you for the prayers for my Mom, she is home now recovering from her stroke. Everyone here has always treated me with such love an compassion and I apologize for not being a better friend lately.

Dave, first off, I've always been moved by your dedication to the hearts & souls of others, but sometimes, after a long journey myself, I come here & realize how rare you are and how much of a gift you are to the world. I saw this when it went up, but having come back on RR just this last week, I didn't comment till now. I often don't comment on you right away because I want to sit with your image a while before I do. But I think the wait also involved realizing how much you care, and that you go to all this trouble to celebrate someone else's life, both in your touching words and your labor-of-love art. You're always raising the souls of others to the sky and saying, "see this soul: They are a Gift". Your art is no less than an offering to the hearts of others. It must be nice to have a simple scene to concentrate on, since I know you do scenes that are highly complex, with lots of people, places and things. Yet even in a simple scene, you put-in so much of yourself to 'channel' the other person deeply. What's nice about this is how much Hygia and Monica dominate the image, not only because the image points to them, but because of the light & joy you worked into them. You've done a fine job linking Hygia's hair (a reddish tint) with the crimson bands on her top. And Hygia's pants---filled with hearts---are like a symbol of her love for her daughter and maybe for everyone else who loved her (& remembered her when she passed, as you said). It was a really fine choice, dave. In some hands, heart-covered clothes could be overly sentimental; but in your hands, they are sheer joy & love. You've put a loving pajamas outfit on Monica, the type that conjures memories of sweet childhood to all of us (even if we didn't wear pajamas like that), And you added your touches---the little details you always give us, showing that you put your love into everything: Ie, the beautiful green cuffs (a nice contrast to the pinkish hues of the pajamas), the green trim on her collar, that great teddy bear monogram (or pig, or something lol) on Monica's upper chest: a great addition. And you got the billow at her ankles perfectly, as you did the foot covering. In fact, your body language is wonderful, you've manipulated these models so realistically, it's very touching. (I'd just had a discussion with a few artists about Degas, the French painter at the turn of the 20th C, who drew ballet dancers; and how he had to understand so many subtle movements to make them realistic. I think after so many Poser pieces, you've become highly intuitive about human posture & movement, so that the postures of these two are putty in your hands. You may work on them a long time---as all artists do---but they come to us with total ease.) And then the lace-tie on the waist of Hygia's pants, and the little lace tie on the real teddy bear; even its tilted- over ears. And the interlacing of fingers from Hygia to her daughter, or Monica's to the bear...Even the hair is done with naturalness & expression. You're a pro at this, Dave, you do very caring work. And then the surrounding: This big engulfing couch acts like an embrace for H & L; and you even put a reflection of the couch's pattern on Monica's knees! (Lol---nice touch!) But the couch, with its dark greens, gives the perfect backdrop for H & M. Then, your wall & window are simple, so nothing takes away from the mother & daughter. You have a gentle floral pattern on the wallpaper, but it's in the background & doesn't interfere. But the touch that makes this so personal is the photo (I assume real) of Monica & her mom on the wall. That brought tears to my eyes. You paid tribute to Hygia by putting her beautiful face, her real face, in the back of the image, with her equally beautiful daughter, two people who obviously love each other, looking over your portrait as if to say, "we give you our blessings". I wonder if this had any special significance for you personally, since your mom had just had a stroke and was in recovery at the time...I'll write to you about that momentarily. But for now, the photo is a beautiful addition... You know, right, that only you do this on RR. You honor the people you do it for, and you celebrate the rest of us as well. What comes out of these uploads time & again is love, love & more love. It's real, it's from the heart: Your friends give you piece of their hearts, you make a painstaking, love-filled image, you tell a little of their tale, and you offer it to all of us in the hope that we'll see part of ourselves in it. We do. A simple, beautiful & touching tribute to someone who is obviously dear to you, and an affirmation of us all. To put it differently, you've done it again---which is to say you do it all the time; and all your viewers, from the whole gamut of this site, are grateful. Beautiful work as always, and a beautiful offering.

Wow how did I miss this. So beautiful so touching for such a wonderful artist that is always kind always generous, and inspires me so much with her work. It is easy to see that her mothers ways and passions were passed on to her daughter. Thank you Dave for once again showcasing a wonderful artist, and for those that might not know her work, to be brought into it. And I am glad to know your mom has recovered. I am so sorry to have missed this. I think I have been busier lately than I knew. Hugss
