Description

Mount Teide (Pico del Teide) in Tenerife, is the highest elevation in Spain and the islands of the Atlantic, and the third largest volcano in the world from its base. It's designated as a Decade Volcano, because of its history of destructive eruptions and its proximity to several large towns. The most dominant plant species in the apparently barren landscape of the Teide National Park are the Teide white broom (Spartocytisus supranubius), which has a white and pink flower; the Canary Island wallflower (Erysimum scoparium), which has white and violet flowers. Moreover there are at least 70 species of insects typical of this area. Since Joanna (Joyphoto) made a remark about a white halo more than once, I'd like to make you known that it's intended and looked for. Of course, one is free to loathe it, it' a matter of taste. However, I chose to leave the white halo on the right side of the mountain, and to hide it on the left side. All considered I still prefer the halo. Anyway state your opinion freely: left or right? (it isn't a political poll). Thanks for your kind comments.

This has a wonderfully stark beauty. Excellent capture. As usual I was completely in the dark about the 'halo' issue until I revisited your previous image. I realized quite some time ago that this is your style. I find it gives your images a graphic quality that often enhances the image over a straight photograph.
