Description

Back when I was stationed in the Bay area in 1977, I happened upon a gun shop and found this WWI Bayonet for a mere $5 - talk about a score! the really cool part of this is that it has the scabbard with it tomorrow I'll post a close up of the proof marks Thanks for all your wonderful comments and faves Mike

Wonderful shot of this Mike. Back in WWI when they had trench warfare bayonets were often more useful than rifles.

this is the one Adolf Shitler lost in the battle of Ypres when he got wounded and blinded with mustard gas lol. i wonder how history would have gone if he'd stayed blind.

Oh, my! That's a rarity! And to consider, the scabbard is still OK, despite being leather. I wonder what history it's had? I wonder how many poor unfortunate's guts it's been thrust through? Or if it never was on a battlefield, used for parade purposes. As a sword bajonette it was a fearful weapon - most troops broke and ran when confronted with a determined bajonette attack. From the scratch marks, it has been used, but for what? Nice photo and good job with the close up of the king's stamp. Keep up the good work. :-) PS - thanks for all your comments on my posts! Often, when I see yours, so many have commented so there's nothing left for me to say! :)

I had a Bayonet. It should be around here somewhere, but it might have been stolen, as I have had a couple of thefts since I last saw it. I was not near as big as yours. So you can tell all your friends that you have a bigger one than me...LOL. Song? http://www.wavlist.com/humor/003/3inch.wav
