My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

I like that tree. And I've always wondered at how scientist say rocks are a certain age. I don't get it. Haven't they been around since the beginning. shrug Guess that's why I'm not a scientist.

But what's a few years give or take, eh? What a fantastic landscape!!

Outstanding composition & especially like the tree's shadows. I would have loved to visit Capitol Reef, but we ran out of time - maybe next trip...

Sig's picture look apocalyptic but you got the better image. Looks like its standing watch.

Geology is wonderfully dramatic! I love that stuff. It's amazing what rocks can actually tell you. Aside from that, I love this image as well...those iron oxide reds are so deliciously Martian, and that tree...how nice of it to pose for you. I like the sense of scale all of this has. It's brilliant.

Great shot.

Very beautiful. The tree look bigger in your photo than Sig's picture.

Beautiful! What wonderful colors.

Tara, I like your capture better than mine, but you took yours a day earlier and the weather was nicer. Apart from that, I like the composition too and your info about the geology reminds me of when I used to work.

wonderful colors and many structures. The gnarled tree, the withered bushes, the burnt earth, the different rock layers and the small clouds. There is nothing, and yet so much to see in this picture. Wonderful
