For several months now, a disturbing trend has been emerging in the ratings given to my images. Its like this... Whenever I put up any new work, people begin to visit my gallery and start to comment and vote. Initially, all goes well, with practically all comments being positive, the ratings assigned neatly following the praise given. Suddenly, the mean ratings drop from 5.00 to something like 4.96 to 4.98, indicating the existence of a very small number of people who assigned low scores, though there are no corresponding critical comments made. After a while, the mean ratings magically climb back up to 5.00 again, though just in time to miss the deadline to make it into the best rated charts. It is all so regular that I already have a pretty good idea of who is giving out the low scores.
This has been going on systematically for quite a while now, following a very exact pattern that repeats itself flawlessly. It seems to be happening right now to my last work, with the ratings dropping mysteriously once the comments reach more or less to half of the 4th page. Lets see how it goes from here.
The interesting things are (a) the mysteriously low ratings given, (b) the complete absence of criticism in the comments following the lower grades assigned, and (c) the strange "correction" in the ratings after it is too late to make any charts.
This is upsetting not really because of the low ratings given or the exclusion from the top of the charts, for I am a big girl and can certainly take some online criticism, especially if it is positive. It is the complete lack of any comments pertaining to flaws in the work and, yet, there still being low scores given, that reeks of ill faith.
Therefore, I once again ask all my visitors to please voice their negative comments if you have them. Just don't hand out deceptive praise followed by a harsh judgement in the score given. I know that the problem is stemming from just a very small number of people, most of whom I have already identified.
Just so not leave anything unsaid, I wish you all a happy new year.

My personal philosophy, if I can't say anything nice I don't say anything at all. If I don't like an image I make no comment or rating. Klasse work,like it very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People who don't make comments, but give negative ratings are not worthy of any concern. They are hooligans who do stupid things. They don't make comments because they don't want to "uncover their faces." I doubt they have ever posted images in their lives. I've had this happen to me at other sites Goes with the territory. Great scene!

Lovely work. You always do lovely creative pieces. I am am sorry to hear about the "trolling" nature in a small percentage of your your reviews. I think you have already stated to figured out a lot about what is going on. Sadly there isn't much can be done but to wait it out. Beautiful and pretty lady in blue. In fact I love the blue of the whole scene. You do wonderful work. It is too bad jealous people have to futz with things maliciously. I prefer to comment and forego rating images. In fact someone once asked me why I accept ratings and do not give them out. I had never thought about it before and so I turned off people being able to rate my work as that seemed only fair. I'm indifferent to charts around here since they are supposed to be for fun and do not really mean anything. Having said that, I do think people can just be petty and I expect you are, and should be, very self confident in your talents, because you are VERT talented. Don't let the dregs bring you down, enjoy your work and ignore the naysayers.

It's a wonderful winter environment and the girl has an elegant pose and a nice outfit. Since she's warmly dressed, she shouldn't be worried by the cold. Giving a low rating to a picture without commenting it is a hidden way to criticize without having to explain why. This kind of behavior is not interesting at all and must be ignored. Anyway, I think it's not a good thing to be able to rate a picture without posting a comment. Only people who comment an artwork should be allowed to rate it.

First of all, I congrat you for your beautiful image : I like the wintery mood in it :-) As for the rating problem, I'm not really surprised. I've noticed since a long time there are very jealous peoples there and peoples who don't care about artwork but only ratings. It is a very very old problem and no serious solutions had been proposed by the moderators team... So, I've quit rating images and I've canceled the ratings on my own artwork. That's it. So continue to post beautiful images and don't care about the ratings ! That's my advice PS : There are so many good artistsand friends that went away from Rendo because of the atmosphere...I hope you won't !

Nice blue hues in this Wintery scene, glad it doesn't snow where I live, I need heat ! As for the rating system, it's flawed and should be removed completely and a panel of art experts should choose who is worthy, like over at Computer Graphic Society, I learn new stuff every day and put it to use in my images. I see so many artist here stagnating, but still getting into the flawed art charts, there are some really excellent artists here that don't even get half a dozen comments and deserve to be at the top, but in the end it's all about the ART, never forget that and just switch off the ratings and make a stand. Also I see some so called artist, just copying and pasting the same comment on every new post, hoping to gain fame...that's shallow and easy to see through, only comment on stuff that looks interesting and mostly I couldn't be bothered doing that sort of shit as it takes me away from being creative...off the soap box now...LOL ~Cheers~
