A scene reminiscent of the industrial era of the nineteenth century, but the silhouette of the locomotive gives a touch of the modern era. Smoke and absence of characters gives an impression of movement.

My favourite band at present is a British group called Big Big Train, whose songs celebrate the English countryside and debate the effects of industrialisation, but also the loss of life-giving industries. This image has the same power as their excellent music...

Our town also was a heavy industry town with many railways in and out, lots of smoke and grime, and that same feel of busyness inside ans abandonment outside.. Brings back a lot of childhood memories. beautifully created Peter. Love the evening lighting and the almost photographic feel.

An antiquated looking locomotive, never seen such a type before - I even googled, to find one similar - but it's more like an artistic license impression, I presume ? never-the-less a fine job, BB

It's a Pannier Tank Engine. Once very common on The Great Western and also British Railways.
