Description

I sprained my knee the other day while playing football, so I had plenty of time to work on this scene yesterday. It's not quite finished so feedback on what to improve would be very appreciated :) Especially the mountains doesn't look right, but I can't figure out what's wrong with them. Help! And I'm also looking for some free duck-models to put on the lake. Please let me know if you know where to find one :) Thanks for viewing! - Thomas :) UPDATE! - added some more haze to the mountains- - added depth of field -

You sure know how to get a discussion started Thomas. Here is my take for what it is worth my friend. The POV is good and shows great depth however looses the reflection qualities of the great water you have created. You see some reflection but now much. The arrangement of the foliage is good, however getting the long grass too close to the camera can cause an unwanted blur at times. The rule I came up for myself is at the waters edge I have always noticed natures way of blending the two together. fine grasses then a medium foliage followed by a larger foliage. But that is just me. Hope this might help in your future creations of art. Not that you need much help that is for sure. Excellent scene my friend.

Excellent work - gets my vote as it is. My only suggestions have already been covered: mountains a little too softened and rounded; don't think it needs any ducks (though if memory serves me correctly, there is a model in the free stuff section here).

Wonderful scene. I would eliminate the blurred brown plants in the left of centre foreground as they are a little distracting. Excellent work. I wish I had a canoe handy!

You think this is unfinished??? Hey, it's fantastic! Before I read your comment I was wondering how you did the mountains because I love the way they look as if they have trees without using fake pine tree terrains. Really stunning image! Bravo!

I think the resolution on the terrains needs increasing (if your pc is up to it); also do a bit more sculpting in the Terrain editor, sharpen, filter altitudes, erosion, etc. And reduce the ratio of snow to rock in the Materials editor, perhaps making the snow appear more on steep slopes, or increase its altitude. Just a few thoughts :)

Well done! I am in no position to critique this image as it looks extreamly well done IMHO.

The composition is excellent in this image and the rich colours are wonderful! Only thing I'd change is the DOF / blurred straws in the foreground, the idea is OK (to add extra depth), but I don't think the execution is too good - may be they should be less blurred, or moved slightly towards the center, they "drown" against the background. As always, a very good job overall.

A true masterpiece once again my man! I love that dead tree, great touch. The island too, Awesome. The mountains are tricky to pinpoint like you say. Is there a way to remove some of the rigidity on the body of it perhaps, when they are so far off it is hard to see such blatant highlights and shadows in them and they might appear to be mostly one color? The mountain to the left seems more real maybe because it sits lower on the horizon? It looks soooo good though, that would be the only things I could suggest. You have amazing vision and control!

Nice, but i think first plane a little bit too dark. Seems as autumn and autumn. But you see snow make scene more lighten

Very impressive render and comp. Didn't read thru the many comments above, rather just give my impression: very crisp and clean, very masterful. There is a blury colour center right fore ground -out of focus leaves? - that I find distracting Something I try and ask myself, if I'd drawn this, would I have drawn that? Love your stuff.

I always have a problem with creating realistic mountains far away in the distance. But you manage to make every part in your scene look so real. Excellent work!
