Description

*Keeping up appearances Keeping up with the Jones' Fooling my selfish heart Going through the motions But I'm fooling myself I'm fooling myself Cause you say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again Everybody thinks you're well Everybody thinks I'm ill Watching me fall apart Falling under your spell But you're fooling yourself You're fooling yourself Cause you say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again And again and again and again and again But you're fooling yourself You're fooling yourself Cause you say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again You say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again And again and again and again and again...* Travis, "Re-Offender" --------------- chalks on ruvid paper, real size 25 per 35 cm. ----------------------------- This is the first experiment in chalks I feel like posting, after the piece of last year "Sketch for PK"and my September theme image "Secretive"I only uploaded in the Forum 2D Gallery. Well, I have much to do there but I am fascinated by the medium possibilties in terms of changin from realism to expressionism. And so there you go.. something a bit new among my usual stuff...Or maybe not? ;) This image of sorrow was made in my days of mourning the past week, for reasons your lovely hearts have already shared and so lovely both in my Memorial pic posted in my gallery and in so many tributes you dear people dedicated in your galleries to my bad days. To show you I am out of that haze, I chose to link the image to a song and not to a personal poem of mine, a song that I am loving to pieces lately, since I firstly heard it weeks ago (hear it too if you haven't yet.. it's so well sung...). Then this image of sorrow, you see, can underline also a story of trashed love, like the one of the song. But at least isn't anymore to remind of a departure that nothing sadly can change. I thought the song fitted the image well. Or maybe I just wanted to promote Travis ;) one of my fav band :P Enjoy and get ready for more chalks experiments. If I will get better with this, well it will be merit of the lovely Forum 2D members and of disa, who pushed me firstly to try more chalks :) And of all of you who, knowing the medium, will be so sweet and kind to give me useful inputs to follow. :) Thanx in advance.

I always love images made with chalk and charcoal... You captured the sorrow really well in your image. I hope this drawing can help you to release the sadness and return to a brighter mood.

Its impressive the amount to me of mediums that you dominate, from a simple piece of chalks to a computer, that I call versatility, of the image, is great and full of grace, the form very is provided. although in my monitor looks a bit dark, maybe for mi bad minitor calibration. in any case excellent work Meli.

It looks like a genuine expression of grief. I echo abmlober's hope that the work helps you get through the rough times.

You have captured sadness with chalk. I'm impressed because I know how difficult it is to work and create something recognizeable with this medium. Your angel is lovely even in her grief. Great image. :)

You have ventured into this medium full force. I really like it. A genuinely sorrowfull posture done in a provocative fashion. The hair is sheer excellence as per usual.

Now just what do you do with all your artwork? You certainly must have reams of fantastic drawings.his sure beats what I saw some kids doing outside with their street chalk LOL.You really do not need any helpful hints on your chalks, rather you should be teaching it.

I'm so pleased to see that you posted this beautiful image as it touches my soul SO deeply my angel hugs Please, keep going with chalks as they so suit your unique style and, just as you said, bring a very expressionistic approach, in its truest sense as it exposes the true emotional quality of your talent. hugest hugs Thank you so much for sharing angel girl :) :) :)

There is a deligthful play between dark and light and forms vs shadows going on here. The play between soft and hard is also interesting. Another delightful image.

i think chalk is the best medium for you, (as far as i can see this), because it gives your brilliant sense and technique for shadow and light the soft touch that makes the best from your style. i imagine when the time comes you can free more space for the light between the shadows.

WOW!! This is excellent!! I love the texture created by the paper. And the looseness of the chalks gives it so much expression and transfers your feeling so much more than pen and pencils. I love using pastels on matte board because of the roughness of the medium and the texture created when the chalks are drawen across them. Please, keep experimenting with chalks! This is excellent!!

Catch you tomorrow night hugs :-)

I love this she really conveys a sense of dispair and sorrow really well. The contrast in values and textures work together great in this one.
