Description

*Keeping up appearances Keeping up with the Jones' Fooling my selfish heart Going through the motions But I'm fooling myself I'm fooling myself Cause you say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again Everybody thinks you're well Everybody thinks I'm ill Watching me fall apart Falling under your spell But you're fooling yourself You're fooling yourself Cause you say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again And again and again and again and again But you're fooling yourself You're fooling yourself Cause you say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again You say you love me And then you do it again, you do it again You say your sorry's And then you do it again, you do it again And again and again and again and again...* Travis, "Re-Offender" --------------- chalks on ruvid paper, real size 25 per 35 cm. ----------------------------- This is the first experiment in chalks I feel like posting, after the piece of last year "Sketch for PK"and my September theme image "Secretive"I only uploaded in the Forum 2D Gallery. Well, I have much to do there but I am fascinated by the medium possibilties in terms of changin from realism to expressionism. And so there you go.. something a bit new among my usual stuff...Or maybe not? ;) This image of sorrow was made in my days of mourning the past week, for reasons your lovely hearts have already shared and so lovely both in my Memorial pic posted in my gallery and in so many tributes you dear people dedicated in your galleries to my bad days. To show you I am out of that haze, I chose to link the image to a song and not to a personal poem of mine, a song that I am loving to pieces lately, since I firstly heard it weeks ago (hear it too if you haven't yet.. it's so well sung...). Then this image of sorrow, you see, can underline also a story of trashed love, like the one of the song. But at least isn't anymore to remind of a departure that nothing sadly can change. I thought the song fitted the image well. Or maybe I just wanted to promote Travis ;) one of my fav band :P Enjoy and get ready for more chalks experiments. If I will get better with this, well it will be merit of the lovely Forum 2D members and of disa, who pushed me firstly to try more chalks :) And of all of you who, knowing the medium, will be so sweet and kind to give me useful inputs to follow. :) Thanx in advance.

Well, I try to find a happy side to every situation. You Have definitely captured a sad mood in this one. The Dark shades and rough strokes are ideal for this!

I see you there in your tweed sports jacket with the leather patches on the worn out elbows and every day more and more chalk is added where the waist drags on the rail of the chalkboard. The intensity of the movement flourishes as winter fades the outdoor light to the gloomy yellow of indoor incandescent then has to be restarted with a day on the lawn and the coat thrown on a tree. Death is expressionist. How celibacy expresses the realistic is the magic.

kudos for venturing into chalk meli :], you've done very well with it & the image conveys your sadness most apropos ...i see a lot of technique, using the fine edge for detail & the larger broad side as well, smearing with the side of your fist(or finger), the bigger your work area, the better, & you've left the highlights of the paper... a gum eraser works well too in picking up loose chalk... it is definitely a medium to get dirty in & one to use for a more impressionistic style... have you tried oil pastels? hugz

Chalk! What fun! Now inspired by two good people, I must go dig out my old chalk and get to work. Time to get sooty. I love it. The same style with a heavier hand. I think you where headed in this direction with the softer lead pencils. I love it! Even if the subject seems sorrowful, the image itself has bold expression full of optimism and life! I am excited and would love to see more of this. Out of the haize is a good feeling, light at the end of that tunnel. Hurray! Meli's sun comes out again!

very nice, Meli, but maybe try to use it less like a pencil. Soft lines and light aeras will give more dimension to the subject. I speak but I don't work a lot.. I konw... always a pleasure to visit your gallery. big hug. :)

My god Meli... such an amazing image!! The two hundred seventy people above me have said it all;) Also, I would like to add that I do see more than sorrow here, I see determination. Thank you for sharing yourself once again Meli.

There is no deeper love than a love that has been lost, whether through the passing of a body or a love broken and left shattered upon the floor by foolish, misunderstood or selfish words. Only forgiveness can ever heal the wounds even though scars may remain upon the heart and soul, but the circle must always be closed before peace can be found once more. Sorry is the word that makes it whole once more.
